This review is regarding the Mother’s Day “all you can eat” event in Newark, NJ. I remembered this restaurant hosted a bbq some years ago and the fried fish and potato salad were the stars. However, at this even for over $70 pp the food was not even somewhat palatable. I’m talking not a single item. Not to mention the food wasn’t hot. It was either cold or lukewarm at best. It seems that this may have been more of a money motivated event and not made with an ounce of love. The food tasted rushed. Which is baffling because the announcements for this event were made months in advance. More than enough time to put more effort into it. The deserts were bad as well. Especially, the peach cobbler. It was extremely unorganized. Due to the “no refund” policy. I am unable to receive one but it is definitely deserved. I had to borrow a drink from a near by table. It was some sort of thick disgusting tea that I could have left at the other table. My table and the tables that were near me did not gain enough respect to have drinks at our table. When the staff was asked for drinks… they informed us that they had “run out”. I was flabbergasted! How does one run an event this large in this manner. I read that over 2k people attended this event. That’s roughly around $140k with about $70 a head and you mean to tell me that a portion of that money was not allotted for drinks? Don’t get me started on how we were literally elbow to elbow. They forced 10 chairs at a table that perhaps was fit for about 6 chairs. I was forced to sit with a stranger (practically on my lap) who decided not to bathe or brush her teeth that particular day. It was an horrendous experience to say the least. I do not think God was pleased. It isn’t always about the money but more so the morality. I will NEVER attend another event. This one has left a diabolical taste...
Read moreMy family and I have been a Two Fish & Five Loaves customer for several years before calling to request catering services for a home celebration of the life of my only brother who I just lost. We were in a fog and had to plan for so many things in a short period of time. I spoke with Kevin and he kindly helped me determine the variety, quantity of food I needed and the delivery time. I was genuinely nervous over whether I did enough to create the rich celebratory environment for my brother. When I saw Kevin's colleague Que unfurl the table cover in such a professional manner, doubt literally dissipated and I knew all would be well. Not only was the day beautiful, sunny 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but EVERYONE said the food was absolutely delicious. I lost count of how many times I mentioned Two Fish and Five Loaves when asked who cooked this wonderful food.
During one of the most trying times of my life and those of my family, Kevin, Que and the Two Fish and Five Loaves family - yes, family - not only comforted our stomachs but indirectly embraced us with love, wiped our tears and allowed us to celebrate the life of my brother, Michael. Should you find yourself in such trying times, I hope my testimonial helps you in your catering...
Read moreI just came from Two fish five loaves. The young lady that was at the register was very rude. Talking about customers. I even said to her you not suppose to talk where people can here you . Especially when they're spending their money. I ask her name she didn't want to give it to me. I come mostly at lunch time so I'm only dealing with one guy there .the light skin guy with the glasses. I think she shouldn't be in the front she should be in the back. Even when another customer came in and the customer was trying to get her change out she was huffing and puffing at that. Even when she handed me my food she handed me my food upside down because I guess she got upset because I asked her what is her name which she refused. The reason she didn't give me her name is because she know she did something wrong. How sad when the radio station 1190 always giving them a shot out. We as black people have to do better. Then we as black people always say we don't support each other. I will never go back. One of my co-workers never wanted to go back in there because of a food issue and the customer service. So I will be...
