A few months ago I went to find a maid of honor dress for a wedding. I found one that was perfect, just the wrong color. I went up front to place the order and was told I would need to be measured first. After she measured me, she told me that the size I needed was 2 sizes up. I told her that I JUST tried on a smaller size dress and that it fit perfectly. She told me that it is better to order up because you can take in dresses but you can’t let them out if they’re too small, which is totally understandable. I told her that the size I tried fit fine and that since I was losing weight I should be just fine. She continued repeating that statement and insisting that I go 2 sizes up. After arguing back and forth I finally just got 1 size up and left the store. Today, I picked up my dress, and it is HUGE. There is no part of the dress that doesn’t need to be taken in. If I had ordered 2 sizes up as she insisted, the dress would’ve been a total loss. Now I’ll be spending even MORE money on alterations that would have been avoided had my voice mattered during my purchase. All my previous experiences with The Formal Showcase have been wonderful, but this is just a warning to anyone shopping for dresses...
