The Ohio TuesDayTrips crew happened upon the Brumback Library and decided to check it out. It is a cool building erected in 1901 and has the distinction of being the first county library in the United States. Go figure, here in Van Wert, Ohio. This is one truly remarkable building shaped like a castle and the interior is phenomenal with the original marble tile floors and vaulted ceiling. The entry is a sitting area and actually has a grand piano in it for community events. One thing that impressed Ken was the neatness of the stacks. All the books were evenly set in the shelves. At most libraries, the books are jutting in or out on the shelves in some messy random order. Not here. That takes time and...
Ā Ā Ā Read morešš¤¬I was told that I could NOT check out the 4 measley books on vintage glass identification today... they made me choose only 2. Absolutely no other books checked out under my name. These were on entirely different glass companies. I've been a patron in good standing for 25 years, and it's not like I wanted 4 top selling fiction books. In a day when literature and history is pushed aside...i left feeling utterly disgusted. She said sorry like 3 times, and I suspect it's because she knew she was wrong doing this. Where is this in our rules? If someone wants to straighten this out, and stop this in the future... I'll remove this review. Please feel free...

The childrenās area, located on the lower level, is spacious and thoughtfully designed. Kids can browse books, read comfortably, explore learning activities on the computers, or enjoy a variety of educational toys and games.
Upstairs, thereās a relaxed community space perfect for reading or even playing a game of chess. Itās a calm, inviting environment and a wonderful place for free, fun entertainment....
