I was MOST DEFINITELY overcharged because I was from out of town. You withoit question will be able to tell from my pictures that this was not even remotely a $102 a night hotel! It was very clear that this was a place locals live. I'm not knocking that, but this isn't a city where people are paying $100 anything a night. It was FILTHY. I killed a roach a soon as I turned on the light. You can also CLEARLY see from my pictures that they didn't even bother changing the SHEETS after whomever stayed in this room before I did, as there was globs of hair on the bedsheets against the wall behind the bed. The only reason I didn't go back to the desk, demand a refund, and sleep in my vehicle is because I'm a woman who was traveling alone and since it was my first time in this city, I didn't know if I would be safe. I DID NOT SLEEP AT ALL BECAUSE I WAS TERRIFIED SOMETHING WOULD CRAWL ON ME 👀

I never leave bad reviews, but this one has it coming. Location was handy, but the rooms are disgusting and I decided I’ll stop being so cheap and fork over an extra $20 for a nice hotel next time. This photo is in the bathroom above the toilet. 🫤

i just got off the phone with a worker/manager i don't know,i didn't ask. first of all i know the disappointment with motels....it's common and usually smells and yes, it should be better in the cases that i have experienced,i personally have spent time cleaning grime and who knows what from here and there. i haven't stay at the inn and assume it's like others, however !!!, after speaking to the person they instantly noticed i appeared stressed, and they were 100% correct ,not only did they take the time to give caring advice and perspective they continued to patiently listen not just for a sell i believe . They caringly explained that it's striving for a community , and how people have become so distant compared family homes with other country's family support being happy with less while keeping a family close to each other..... they listen to my probably rambling a bit,as i'm very stressed and have alot of loss.... we ended the call but then i called back, they were busy but i waited and they took time to listen to my story about how i wish i could of found them when the bus dropped me off at van wert but i screwed up and got back on the bus and it's been difficult ever since, they listened and were polite. if they were just trying to sell a room they did a good job, if they were sincere and caring, i believe them and felt the love and care, not cold at all and i've like i'm sure you all have have experienced cold heartless greedy taking advantage of other people's misfortunes' clerks and people in general and it absolutely was highly appreciated,i'm sorry others experience bad service or time i found that yes, it is very frustrating because it's expensive sometimes to stay at motels and we want something nice to enjoy, i have never been impressed and been very disappointed with smells, gross stuff, noise and so on,this call i made i wish everyone experienced and hope you do. i appreciated all the time they gave me and the sense of caring for a stranger was genuine and thoughtful and very very appreciated, thank - you very very much - nate.* over stressed looking for peace and...

Our stay at the Fountain Inn was wonderful: memorable, comfortable, and hospitable. (Not to mention very affordable!) The warm-hearted welcome that we had from the host/owner even included a cup of ginger tea, as we discussed the town, our children, and Ayurvedic medicine. The Y across the street had a good weight room to throw heavy metal around, but also a nice fitness center for cardio. The Brumback Library, architecturally impressive and beautifully decorated for the holidays, is a good place to browse. We had supper at a nice, inexpensive Chinese buffet that the owner recommended and there is also a great deli with a wide beer selection in town (Collins Fine Food).||The motel is a mid-century stop on the old Lincoln Highway with a cool period paint job. It looks well-used (historic) but also tended with care. If you are the type to snap snarky photos of outdated fixtures or celebrity-shaped stains, this is probably not a place for you; however, if you want a clean, well-kept, and friendly place, this is it. You will remember your visit to Van Wert long after you have forgotten your next-to-last interstate exit hotel stop: you have nothing to lose but...

This independently owned/operated motel looks a bit sketchy. It shows its age and obviously, at the prices charged, a lot of maintenance has been deferred through the years.||The rooms are small and slightly claustrophobic, but the windows open and I felt quite safe leaving the front door ajar while I spent time in the room. Like many of the these old down in the heels mom & pops, the motel is inhabited by a lot of itinerate workers who gather outside and chat. They know each other. They are not crooks or criminals, they are just hard working Americans, trying to get by, so don't be put off by their presence.||I won't lie. There was an unmistakable heavy smell in the room, but it was of delicious Indian spices, not of dirt, .mold, or funky shower curtains. The room was not the cleanest, however the sheets and towels were very clean. ||This place is worth a stay if you're on a budge. The location is perfect for an evening stroll through historic, downtown, Van Wert. Don't be shy, get to know Angie, the motel manager. She's an amazing and...
