I've had a gym membership here for over 6 months, and have had considerably better experiences at free apartment gyms. If you're looking for a gym with the basic equipment provided at most gyms then come here. The massage chairs can only be used 2x a day (a limit they randomly set without informing anyone with a membership). As well, they generally get upset when you ask to use the tanning machines, as none of the workers want to get up and actually work. Make sure to NOT bring your friends for a tour! I had attempted to tell the woman working the desk that my friend wanted a tour and that I was already a member trying to recommend the place to her--the woman insisted that since I had a membership and that she was with me, she had to pay $5 to 'tour' the place (we were stopping in after brunch, as we were discussing over brunch starting to work out together). The woman would not even give my friend a tour, she told me 'you can show her around since you brought her'. My friend ended up getting a membership elsewhere, as while we were 'touring' a mother had 3 of her kids running around the gym wildly. Mind you anyone who comes outside of 'office hours' can let anyone into the gym with them for FREE (office hours are between 9am-6pm the last time I checked). One time I visited a family of 8+ was in there, using the gym as a jungle gym. Generally do not come here unless you want to work out while also being at what is essentially a day care. Lastly, the vetting processes for their 'personal trainers' is any young person (particularly young women that the hiring manager likes) that goes through illegitimate training; half the staff I spoke to had no degrees or education in the field, they just took the course offered with the hiring process that takes about 3-6 months to complete... Be CAREFUL, as people without proper training and experience can seem like they know what they're doing, but even with a 'training course' under their belt, does not mean they are qualified to aid in all physical exercise...
Read moreEquipment is up to date and works really well. They have a good selection of weights unlike most gyms in the area. They have dumbbells in 12.5, 17.5 and 22.5 lbs - these are good increments and great to have.
Unfortunately they are missing a seated leg curl (hamstring machine) which is a must have for any body building program. They do have a prone leg curl.
Their cardio machines are pretty good also, although they only have 2 stair masters. They have a good amount of treadmills, ellipticals and bicycles.
We like that you can use it anytime. They do close down the gym for maintenance or repairs but they announce it on their app so make sure to download it to get updates.
Cleanliness is okay for a gym. I’ve been a member at the YMCA and YouFit. YouFit is the cleanest one I’ve been to. This is maybe a 3 stars. A little dusty by the stretching area/kettle bell area. The women’s bathroom isn’t always clean. The men’s bathroom often runs out of toilet paper per my husband.
Depending on when you go the crowd is different. We were early morning people so it’s usually quiet but there are some people who would occupy multiple machines and that was annoying. I worked out before I went to work so I was in a rush to get my workouts done on time and it was rude that some members did that.
Overall the staff is helpful. We had to cancel our membership (monthly) and the process was not as painstaking as Crunch Fitness. They are more friendlier to people who they can sell their personal training sessions or group session but that’s expected.
Great price for the value but a little bit of a smaller gym - which has its advantages (tight knit community if that’s what you’re after) and disadvantages (can...
Read moreIt is sad to give Workout Anytime Venice one star, the facility and employees are very good but terminating a membership is horrible. I am truly surprised with the issues I’ve encountered. I was a member for over a year. In August, 2023 I went to the Venice facility to terminate my membership for medical reasons. That all went well and I received a notice of cancellation, effective 9/5/23. I assumed that was the end but it wasn’t. I noticed that my credit card was charged for October. I contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge. Soon after I started receiving emails and text messages from the third party billing company used by Workout Anytime that I owed for October, with a late fee. I called them and explained that my membership was cancelled and I had a form showing that. The stated that they didn’t much care and I had to contact the company. I called the Venice office to speak with the Manager. A few days later, mid-November, the manager called back and was extremely pleasant and helpful. She had to research the issue and promptly called me back. She said that my membership had been properly cancelled and apologized and said I would be getting the appropriate credit. All good, not. Yesterday I received notice from my credit card company yesterday, 12/4/23, that Workout Anytime maintains that my membership is active and that they are charging my account. Now I have to go through a process with the credit card company. I am writing this review to warn that terminating a membership agreement with Workout Anytime is extremely...
