Leather Corner — Local services in Venice

Reviews: How important are they in your decision to consider doing business with a place you are not familiar with? How do you know if those reviews are legitimate, unbiased and accurate?

For us, after we've done our initial research, those reviews often play a major role in whether we try that restaurant or even consider shopping at that store. At the time we first discovered Leather Corner, they had about 32 five star reviews. This immediately got our attention. We carefully read every review and tried to evaluate the quality and accuracy of each review and its reviewer. Still not 100% convinced everything was as indicated, we drove from Punta Gorda to Venice to find out for ourselves.

We have a new custom built home and have been shopping for living room furniture (sofa). After months of shopping and learning we finally came to the conclusion that a 110" or larger, contemporary style, power reclining sofa, manufactured by Palliser is the correct choice for our needs. Some fine furniture stores carry Palliser but most do not have much of a selection.  Conversely, Leather Corner is loaded with Palliser furniture. We have yet to see any furniture store with even 1/5th of the amount of Palliser furniture displayed at Leather Corner.

So, what did we learn upon our first visit to Leather Corner? First observation (as previously mentioned) is that the store is loaded with beautiful Palliser furniture.  Many styles, colors, sizes, options of sofas, chairs, rugs and accessories. Second, we were pleasantly greeted by Calvin. (Yes, everything you have read in other reviews mentioning Calvin is spot on). He listened attentively as we described the living room space, contemporary style, need for aesthetics and comfort as well as extra length to properly scale with an existing Lexington  3' x 5' solid wood cocktail table. Fortunately, he had a reclining Palliser Armina 2 seater that we could sit on, recline and evaluate. After spending several (non-pressured) hours there learning about all of the options and choices available to us, we decided to order the 3 piece Palliser Armina sofa in white leather.

We could not be more pleased with the entire experience. Calvin's knowledgeable, relaxed, honest, no pressure personality along with the huge inventory of Palliser made our shopping experience pleasant and satisfying. Within a few days of anticipated delivery (about six weeks), a very professional delivery team delivered and set up the sofa for us.

I stumbled upon Leather Corner, near Bird Bay Plaza in Venice, while shopping at an auto parts store next door. I had been looking at leather furniture for our living room for a couple of months but wasn't happy with the "bonded" leather products I was finding in most stores. Leather Corner sells real leather furniture. You can smell the leather when you open the door! Calvin was incredibly helpful and patient as I learned about the different qualities of each type of leather he offers in his store and as I figured out what configuration I wanted my new furniture to be. And then I had to chose a color! I mean major color choices. Not just two or three but many, many, many choices. Calvin wasn't pushy nor did he try to sell me more than what I wanted. It was an excellent experience and I can't wait for my new furniture to arrive. I highly recommend stopping by to see Calvin at Leather Corner before leaving town to shop at other furniture stores. The Leather Corner is a hidden gem! They sell top quality furniture at a reasonable price. Calvin, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and if he does not have the answer, he is very responsive and quick to get it. He provides top customer service, patient with all our questions and quick to accommodate us. We purchased a leather sectional and a leather chair made by Pallister, all made in North America! We absolutely love this furniture, could not be happier. We needed the leather sectional the next day and Calvin made it happen! We ordered the power recliner with many colors to choose from. There is beautiful inventory to purchase off the floor! The delivery crew are top notch also, best described as white glove delivery!
