this was our first time at two trees escape room and if there future rooms are anything similar to their currently open room we'll be back. before i discuss this room i must apology for my lack of capital letters, for whatever reason my computer closes the text box when i attempt to hit the shift key. so i have done upwards of 70 escape rooms. i have escaped with only one other person and up to 5 others in a room.
i would recommend this escape room to anyone visiting the ventura/oxnard area. the room itself has an outstanding set design, especially considering it was mostly built by the owner and his game master. in terms of quality, i usually break my reviews into a few categories; atmosphere, puzzle difficulty, puzzle type, scavenger hunt.
atmosphere- as mentioned above, the set design was perfect for this room. imagine an old murder mystery style office/dining area. the puzzles themselves were intertwined into the atmosphere as well making the experience more immersive.
puzzle difficulty- i would describe the puzzles from a scale of 1-10 as a 4. basically you don't need any outside knowledge to figure out the puzzles except for possibly one that simply needs you to solve a riddle. for the most part, all the other clues or puzzles are semi-obvious, at least to a group of 3 guys, the other two have only done two escape rooms.
puzzle types- i would describe this room as mostly combo/lock/key. most of the puzzles involve either finding a key or finding a word or number to unlock a combo type puzzle. there are about 2-3 puzzles that dont involve obvious combos or keys.
scavenger hunt- i define scavenger hunt as the escape room heavily dependent on you searching the room for items. some rooms rely heavily on hiding several items throughout the room which you must find before being able to advance. on a scale of 1-10, i would rate this room as a 4, meaning it does not rely heavily on searching for multiple pieces or items. you do have to search the room for some items to help you solve puzzles or discover combos, however there is an even balance between solving the riddles and searching the room for clues.
i was very happy with this room, as a techie myself, i would have liked to see more interactive puzzles, think of pulling a candle stick to activate a hidden door or using one of your five senses to solve a puzzle.
overall, i would recommend this room once again to anyone who has either never done an escape room to that of the more seasoned player. i can't wait to see what their future rooms have to offer. if you need a beta tester, i'm always happy to...
Read moreAs an escape room enthusiast of over 200 rooms, I contacted Two Trees Escape about doing their rooms solo! Sekoya, the manager and creator of all of their rooms, was more than accommodating and made the experience an unforgettable one!
I started with Haunting at the Manor, which was a perfect beginning to the day. The room was decorated beautifully with a darker ambience, but was not scary at all! I loved the flow of the puzzles—nothing was overly difficult or too easy, but everything led nicely into each other. After finishing this room, I had to try another!
I moved on to Vault 805 from there, which had a theme I really enjoyed. One of the puzzles had me instantly cheesing, and I was even able to enjoy it for the remainder of the room! The flow of Vault 805 was less linear than Haunting, but I loved the decor and unique puzzles in this room! NOTE: for the part in each room that needed 4 hands, Sekoya was able to accommodate perfectly well with no immersion breaking or strange flow!
I came back a couple days later with the family to knock out Runic Ritual, which was my favorite of the three rooms! The puzzles were nonlinear and kept us on our toes the whole time.
Whether you are a lover of escape rooms or have never done one before, make sure you check out Two Trees Escape for great puzzles, friendly and enthusiastic management, and an always amazing experience! Thank you Sekoya...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure, the Dino Escape Room is an absolute must-try! From the moment we entered, we were immersed in a thrilling prehistoric world, filled with intricate puzzles, hidden clues, and a sense of excitement that kept us all on our toes.
Ashley, our game master, was a standout. She struck the perfect balance between challenging and fun, guiding us when needed but allowing us to explore and solve puzzles at our own pace. Her hints were just enough to nudge us in the right direction without giving too much away—creating an experience that was both rewarding and engaging for the whole family.
The attention to detail in the room was incredible, with every prop and puzzle seamlessly fitting into the dinosaur theme. Everything worked perfectly, from the mechanics of the game to the atmosphere, making it an incredibly immersive experience. The puzzles themselves were clever and creative, offering a range of challenges that kept everyone involved—there was something for everyone, whether you were a puzzle master or just there...
