I went to Stop & Shop in Vernon today. First, they closed the bottle return. The notice says this is to provide us with better service. I am confused. You are going to provide better service by not providing a service you are legally required to provide? What about people for whom the money tied up in deposits is a significant portion of their earnings or they need to get those deposits to buy food? How is this better service. Second, I saw the eggs had been nearly cleaned out. So the cardboard over the egg case the other night and the story about refrigerator problems was a lie. It is disturbing that the first tool you reached for in this crisis was to lie to your customers. That is not the way to build trust and help quell the current panic. Third, while I do not blame you for the media induced panic that has caused a run on various goods, I do fault you for the slow reaction in limiting quantities per customer and in not getting the shelves restocked. I understand that this is a bigger problem than just you, but it doesn’t seem that you are rising to the occasion and that is also not helping to quell the panic. We are one week into this, what is going to happen in...
Read moreI like this store. It's well laid out, but huge! 4 or 5 items can have me walking through the entire store, quite a distance and time spent!
I love the scanner option for so many reasons. Problem is, the units are frequently not charged up enough. So I WALK to the other scan center by the other entrance and hope there's a charged one there. Good, I'm in luck.

Now, for a while they were offering Nature's Promise rotisserie chicken breasts. They were excellent!! and still are, on the rare occasions that they have them. I only eat the white meat of the chicken, and buying a whole chicken was wasteful and so I stopped. The rotisserie chicken breast was perfect. I wish you had...
Read moreFirst off, let me just say that I don't use the restroom that often at the grocery store, but the Ladies Room smelled like an outhouse. Whoever signed off on 5/11 apparently didn't clean the place. It actually looked like someone washed their hair due to all the long brunette hair in the handicap sink. Ewe!
As for shopping, their flower shop has improved , but their bakery selections have gotten smaller. My suggestion is to head to Big Y in Ellington for those specialty desserts.
Prices still remain on the high side, and they never run any dpecials for smaller quanity items. If you're an empty nester, you'll still have to purchase things in larger quantities. It's such a shame. They are missing out on a good marketing gimmick.
Produce still is iffy at best. I hope the seasonal change will show an improvement and their produce won't go...
