Ed an d Al's Audio Sound, Vista, Ca. I dropped the radio out of my FJ Cruiser on Monday and they tested the radio while it was in the car and while I was out of the car. The only thing they didn't do was road test it and that was where I was having problems with the radio. On occasion and mostly all the time as I started my car the radio would come on and a lot of the times it would be a normal radio I would hit a bump and I would lose three-quarters of the power couldn't get any then coming over the radio that I could hear distinctively and it would just make noise in the background crackling sounds Etc. I would hit a like bump and all of a sudden it would change to either a good radio or crackling sound. In the old days that would mean there was a dead short somewhere and that every time you hit that bump but it would make the correct connection and you have radio but if you did it enough it would take the radio out and then you would have to start looking for the connection that was doing that. Nowadays it's totally different but in many ways it's exactly the same. If there is something loose in the radio being that it is 10 years old that could shake a resistor transistor or whatever resistor there is in there and cause the problem that way. In a simple man's way it's very easy to choose the correct bad transistor, and I'm only using the word transistor because there's so many other words of little transistor like Parts in the radio it's just easier to call it a transistor at this point in time. It could be a resistor could be a transistor it could be something else so just stick with me here. Speakers in my car send a slight charge back to the radio speakers themselves. Usually wanted a time. This can be done by anybody that has a speaker. You take the speaker late face-down get two wires and connect one to the positive one to the negative go to the speaker connect one of the wires up to one of the connections and take the other speaker and just touch the speaker that is not connected it should pop a little sound it'll just like "pop". If you don't hear the pop and it's very distinct and it won't hurt the radio it means that the speaker is out it could be repaired but you're probably be better off not repairing it just replacing it but I know it's about speakers I've been doing it for 40 years and these instructions don't get you tied up with some person who thinks he knows all of it. So my speakers were tested my radio is going to be tested by on Friday maybe Thursday or Friday and I'll find out information. When the radio comes back either fixed or repaired without any problem meaning there wasn't really anything wrong with that then we will put in a device that will through my radio controls enable me to have a Bluetooth ability. That means I can hook my radio up to that and make phone calls and it will be hands-free all I have to do is dictate what I want done and it will do it and it will come over the speakers in my car which are excellent speakers in the FJ Cruiser model year 2007. By the time. IF everything comes out great I will move those Stars up to five stars. My son up and Los Angeles has had work done with five star results. So I am anticipating a clean installation a good explanation how it works with my phone and a good professional installer attitude. And I think that will happen. These guys have been around a long time high recommendation from Los Angeles folks and so long as they can get the work done in a reasonable amount of time I'll be a happy camper. I should be saying I'll be a happy fisherman cuz I'll be doing both more fishing...
Read moreProfessional. That’s the word that best describes John, Mike, and the rest of the staff at this location. Not only do they know what they’re doing, they also make sure that you know what they’re doing. They have tons of knowledge and experience, but they aren’t like some typical experts who loath your questions and are irritated by your mere presence. They explain things, they ask you questions to figure out what best suites your needs, and they expect you to have questions as well.
They are definitely NOT trying to rip you off. They installed a new head unit for me this past Saturday. But due to the poor quality of the original install done by a different shop in Oceanside (that is now out of business for obvious reasons), I was having some issues with one of my door speakers and my 4-channel amp which I had them check for me this afternoon. They fixed the issues, and they could have absolutely charged me for the work. In fact, I was expecting it given the extra effort they ended up having to go through to fix the problems. They chose not to.
I will probably be replacing my 4-channel amp sooner rather than later, and I do not plan to even attempt to go anywhere else first when I decide to do so. I will be going straight to Al & Ed’s...
Read moreThw place is easy to find, and parking was no problem. I wanted to have a dash cam hard wired, so I went in for an the estimate. The gentleman at the storefront came out too see the truck. I explained thar I had already run the wiring to the inside fuse box for the DashCam , and just wanted the final connection to an existing fuse slot That was not used. He explained how difficult the job would be, that he had to remove the whole panel and solder behind it. the slightest mistake would disable the vehicle!, and I would need to take to the dealer. He estimated that this would require 1 1/2 hours to 2 to complete, and the cost would be several hundred dollars.
I drove the car to North County Mobil electronics, who told me since I had already run the wires to the fuse box, they just needed to be connected to an unused fuse slot. He estimated this would take less than ten minutes to do so he would charge me $10 for the work. when I told him of what AL & Ed"s told me he jus shook his head and smiled.
I'm not sure how AL & Eds have gotten so many positive reviews, because I saw no evidence of fair pricing and a concern for customer care. Their only goal apparently was departing me from my cash ...
