I’ve been a member of this gym for 2 weeks and I already want out of my contract . The staff here is unprofessional and lacks customer service skills . I had signed up for a membership and personal training, the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. The next day , Saturday of the weekend, they texted me a promotion stating that if you sign up for personal training during Memorial Day weekend (no start date specified) you get 50% off your training. I had signed up just the day before and thought it could be honored. I had reached out to staff multiple times to see if they could honor it , no one ever got back to me, which was funny because the week before they were all calling me daily to get me to sign up . After not hearing back for a WEEK, I went in person and spoke to Rome, a manager there, who stated there was nothing he could do for me regarding the promotion and who also didn’t even offer an apology for staff not acknowledging my concerns in a timely manner. Because of this I returned the product I had brought from them and canceled my personal training. How are you telling me you can’t work with me or try to accommodate me when I’m paying my money and additional fees for personal training at that ?! I was paying 180$ extra for personal training, on top a membership! ! And he is saying he cannot do anything for me!!! That’s like a slap in the face!! Clearly customer retention means nothing to him. This edge is money hungry, greedy , has horrible customer service , and employs staff that could care less about you. Do yourself a favor and save your money , Don’t sign that 12 month contract, you won’t regret it . They deff won’t see another cent from me once my contract expires ! Counting down the days!
Update: The owners response is untrue. The issue was never resolved. Someone did reach out to me (not Alonzo) to offer me two additional personal training sessions and I was told they would follow back up with me for my response and to set the training sessions up, but that never happened. No one ever followed back up. I actually had to follow back up myself and still no response. So like I said in my initial post: bad...

I am currently experiencing a very difficult time and want to bring my situation to your attention. I reported to Edge customer service representatives that I am facing eviction and have nowhere to stay for myself and my children, relying solely on my vehicle for shelter. I informed them of this urgent issue, but I did not receive any assistance or support.
I have had a membership for approximately a year, though I only used it for about four or five months consecutively. This means I may have effectively paid for seven or eight months without using the service. I understand I was the one responsible for the membership, and I acknowledge the agreement I signed. However, I did not anticipate facing such severe financial hardship in the future.
When I explained my circumstances, the representative appeared indifferent. I was told I still had two months remaining on my agreement, but no consideration was given to my situation. At that point, I realized that maintaining a gym membership was no longer a priority or necessity for me.
Despite my circumstances, I was unable to get assistance or even an option to pause or suspend my membership. I believe that offering to hold my membership until I could resume payments would have been a compassionate gesture. Unfortunately, there is no gym facility in Philadelphia where I could use the membership anyway, so I will essentially be losing two months of service without recourse.
Furthermore, I am now receiving collection bills for thrones the original amount that was $60 due, which I am unable to pay due to my financial hardship. No support or alternative arrangements were offered, and I was left feeling ignored and uncared for. I could have provided documentation such as lease agreements or shelter outreach letters to substantiate my situation, but this was not even suggested.
It is disheartening to see that your organization seems to prioritize physical well-being over mental and financial well-being. I hope you will reconsider how you handle cases like mine and show more compassion and understanding in the...
Read moreI've been going to The Edge Fitness 4-5x weekly for the last 7 months. Mostly, it's a big upgrade coming from Planet Fitness. The machines are much better, staff is friendly, and the guest policy is solid. I also love that there's a sauna and shake bar.
There are, however, some downsides... • This gym gets VERY crowded. It's almost impossible to work out after 5:00pm. Around that time the crowd becomes very young too. So a lot of folks work out in groups, spend time on their phones while occupying machines, and take photos/videos of themselves while you're in the background (even in the locker room). Don't be surprised when people fail to rack their weights after using machines either. With all that said, I have met a lot of really nice, more mature people here. But I have had to change when I work out in order to be able to do what I want when I want. • It's dirty consistently in some places. I often see pink mold on the shower doors. And the sauna door & tv screen are always filthy. They can easily do better with those things. • There should be more massage chairs too. I often don't get a chance to use the one they do have because someone is in it or people are waiting. And there's no queue so I've even waited (thinking I was next) only to realize was someone ahead of me—since multiple people work the counter no one person can keep track of that. Whats more, the "massage bed" is a waste of space (it is not effective). This is one area PF has a leg up on Edge—the location I came from had 2 massage chairs and 3 beds—all were great and there was never a wait.
All things considered. Its a nice gym. But after learning the things mentioned above the hard way, if you're going to be there a lot, I suggest checking out other options before signing a 2 year contract with them. The membership is a good value, but I'd pay more to get around that stuff, especially considering it seems more people join every day.
*I'll happily update this review in the future if these...
