One of the few retro fitness in the area that is open 24/7. Although itās open 24/7, it may be closed on holidays. They post notices on the door and on their fb to notify the customer of any closures.
Iāve been to 3 retrofitness so far. For this retro in particular, I love that the scanner faces you so you can just scan your membership card and go in. At other retrofitness youāre often waiting several minutes for a staff member to scan you in personally. Rather irritating when thereās only one guy and you have to wait for him to finish serving a Customer a smoothie or when theyāre busy talking to a customer and ignoring the line of check inās building up. Thankfully itās hardly ever the case at this retrofitness.
As with most retrofitness, this one has a theater thatās a bit more open in design. Thereās windows on either side of the theater letting you look in as you pass it or out as youāre watching the movie working out. Itās just nice for a quick glance of a movie that you may not know of but could possibly enjoy. The theater closes, for presumably maintenance, at 1am to 5am.
This retrofitness has 3 fancy stairclimbers (apart from the usual 2 non-fancy ones found at the other retroās) and 1 stepper. They are fancy cause of the large screen, Bluetooth option, and my two favorite parts: the USB port to charge your phone, and the oh so needed fan blowing on you as you survive your climb!
It does not have the bicycles that also puts your arms to work (with the arm press and leg press features), nor the hardly ever used frictionless treadmill (what I call it as I donāt know the name). Iāll have to update this review once I get ahold of the names of the equipment.
Apart from that, itās your typical retro fitness.
If you found this review helpful or you enjoy clicking on things.. Iād be delighted if you gave it a šš¼...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt first I LOVED this gym because it was so close to where I lived. Then I started working in the Hackensack area so I decided to go there after work every day or every other day. I thought that perhaps my membership would eventually crossover to the Hackensack location but I guess it never did.
So one day I had the day off and decided to workout at my old Wallington gym.... this is EXACTLY how I get greeted by the idiot woman at the front desk after I scanned my card.
"Whooooooooooa!!!!! YOU haven't been here in FOREVER!" and at that time EVERYBODY around the area locked their eyes on me. Talk about being a little embarrassed. I told her "Yea.. I've been going to Hackensack" which she could CLEARLY see according to my logs.
After going to Hackensack and even Paramus (goregous setup there) I noticed what a sh*thole this Wallington location is. Also the people working the counter always have "better" things to do than help you. God forbid you want to pay for a water or a pair of headphones- It's like I'm disrupting their life.
I will be going to other locations, even though I can literally jump in my car, drive 1 minute and be at this gym, I'd rather drive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to laugh at Eric Rubin's review below LOL! Dude, you're at a GYM not a doctor's office. The dude is concerned about other people not being vaccinated, which has nothing to do with the establishment, also with getting covid and dying. Then why go to a public gym ??? And gym bros? Really? What do you expect at a gym? Go work out at home. People are nuts.
Anyways, I love this gym. It's small but extremely practical --you have everything you need in here. Doesn't get too crowded compared to other gyms like LA fitness (good lord, it's like sardine nation there) but of course during prime time 5-7PM it can be a bit crowded like any other gym. It's cleaned thoroughly from my observation, staff is nice, and trainers are knowledgeable. Reviews about dumbbells not being put back, I mean seriously that's not a staff issue, that's a humanity issue. In any gym, you'll have people that don't know gym etiquette. I've watched staff put weights back where they belong. They recently renovated, which shows effort in keeping it going and when a machine breaks down, they do what they can to get it fixed or get a new one...
