It is a 7.0-milepoint-to-point trail. We chose the path from Bethesda to Georgetown, a completely downhill path. It is a well-paved trail that tends to be crowded on the weekend for the 2.5 miles with a lot of bikers and walkers but it really kind of clears out further in. It was mostly sunny, flat, and popular with runners, walkers, and especially bikers. It has intermittent views of the Potomac river which runs parallel. We also got lucky and saw a big fat hawk which was welcoming us at our 6.0 miles stop. What amazed me is that you can’t really hear any traffic as you move along (remember the trail is right in the heart of the city). It took us 3 hours to complete the trail. We were extremely exhausted till the time we reached the end but it was worth the effort. There are loads of restaurants on both sides of the trail which was a blessing for us since we just hogged on the food in the first eatery that we saw. Reaching this trail from either end is easy by using public transport. I took the metro to Bethesda, walked toward the trailhead, and on the way back took the metro from Rosslyn station which is a mile away from the trail's end.
