I've only been in DC for just over a week for an internship, and somehow in my own carelessness, I snapped my glasses in two (rolled over them on the bed, honestly...). I tried using super glue and then tape, to no avail. I called a few places around the Foggy Bottom who all told me that they couldn't be repaired, or that it would be $200+ repair. It was a bit of a further walk, and I had to wait about 2.5hrs for the repair to be completed, but I'm really happy with it. The repairman advised that because my glasses are transparent there was no way to hide the metal pin that would be inserted to reinforce/fix the break, and that he would do the best he could to hide the physical crack; it would likely still be visible. Ultimately, while you can see the pin, it does not stand out and the glasses are still comfortable to wear which is the most important part. The repair costed $70 + $6.00 for same day repair. He does not accept cash unless you have the exact amount, and there is no tax cost. I happily walked around DC and visited local museums and the White House, though by squinting heavily lol. Highly recommended.

I wanted to love this company. On the good side, I did receive the "fixed" glasses back from them quickly. The bad news is that their repair jobs cause future breaks. The attached picture shows my glasses just two weeks after receipt from Frame Mender. The original break is in the red circle, and the new break is in the blue circles. You can see that they welded the original break and then welded a piece of metal on the back side of the bridge. This creates a weak point at the end of where the metal reinforcement is. If they had simply reinforced the bridge to both edges, the new break would not have occurred. Their customer service reply was, "The metal piece we add is to reinforce the laser weld of the repaired spot, not to reinforce the entire bridge piece to prevent future breaks." In other words, we design the repair so that you'll be back.

I was heart broken, my rather expensive Silhouette eyeglass frame broke in half. I was searching for new ones when I ran across The Frame Mender on the internet. I sent them in and within a week they were back and wonderfully repaired just as advertised while saving me a few hundred bucks! The Frame Mender came thru like the Avengers saving my pockets from certain annihilation! Great guys, I wonder if they could fix a slightly volatile relationship that needs repair?

Wish I can give them 0 stars! At first i believed it would be a smooth service, especially for 90$. But it wasn't that way at all. To start the manager insisted that whoever was working told me that the process would bring discoloration to my glasses. I know for a fact he didn't because if that was the case i would have invested an extra 30$ for a brand new pair. They said its listed on the receipt, I cant say if it is or inst because i misplaced my receipt. But either way you have to pay to get a receipt.... So you wouldn't find out until after the money is dished out. So after discovering my glasses had been turned brown, when originally being gold. I tried to call and speak with the manager... who became frustrated and didn't know how to handle the situation at all. So he then hung up. I called back multiple times and was placed on hold every time for 15-20 minutes each time! The customer service was terrible and they messed up my glasses without even telling me. DON'T GO! Maybe another location has better service. But save your money and time! Please! I never write reviews but after experiencing service this rude and terrible...

Left my glasses with them April 23rd and picked them up a couple days later. At first glance they looked fine so I put them in the case and I left. The next day I cleaned them (they didn't), which I found odd because most eyeglass shops do that as a courtesy. Anyway, when I put them on I noticed that the frame was not perfectly aligned where they fixed. Then I noticed both lenses are sticking out of the frame at the top of my glasses. So I pushed them back in so they would not unexpectedly fall out. Upon looking closer at my glasses today I notice the frame around the top of the lenses are not straight. They have an uneven look. They look like someone pressed their fingers into them. So what I need to know is during the welding process if they unknowingly reshaped my glasses causing my lenses to bulge out? And basically my frame is ruined. An expensive pair of glasses ($400) ruined and I don't know if they will admit this happened. Because I know I did not do this to my glasses and they were not handed over to them like that. I am going to call them tomorrow, Monday morning to tell them my issue. Then will update my review...

DO NOT GO HERE!

I am very disappointed in the repair that was "completed" on my glasses at the 750 17th St location. After spending $60 for a very minor repair, my glasses are in worse condition than when I brought them in.

I brought the glasses in to the store due to a minor separation of two pieces of the frame. One of the pieces holds the lens, and if I pushed (and only if I pushed) on the lens the two pieces would separate. The store welded the two pieces together, however they are no longer flush, resulting in my lens being at an angle. This distorts my vision. Additionally, my glasses were returned to me with a chip in the lens, which I was told was already there even though it was not. I now need to buy a new pair of glasses because of this store's incompetence.

The person working behind the counter was extremely rude, basically called me a liar, and even had the audacity to argue that the new angle of the lens was how it was supposed to be. I will never go back to this store, and will strongly discourage any friends/family/coworkers from using its services as well. Save yourself some time/money and DO...
