One of the major importance of this place is the two metro stations- Farragut West and Farragut North. Farragut West Metro station has silver and orange line towards Wiehle-Reston / Vienna and Farragut North has got Red line towards Shady Grove. So the most of the pedestrian traffic is due to both of these stations for people opt transferring from one lane to other without going to the Metro center station.
Farragut Square is a beautiful park, if you can see an aerial view, it is a twin sister of McPherson Square, both complimenting the Lafayette Square in front of the White House.

Is it the Farragut statue in the middle? Probably not. It's nice and all, but that's not the best thing about this place.
Is it the grassy parkland? Nah. I do like nice grass and this has patches large enough for yoga classes. Those seem cool, but I'm usually spotting them en route to Farragut North, busily commuting.
This might be a good time to mention the square's proximity to the Farragut North and Farragut West Metro stations.
