Stop & Shop — Attraction in Watchung

This Is the most unfriendly store I've ever seen. This started about 2 manager's ago about 4 or 5 years ago. The majority of the workers are now unhappy and disgruntle. When the store first opened it was a great place to shop. They charge more than other food stores and expect you to bring your own bags or the bags they provide are to thin to carry the items out to the car.. if I'm paying more at a store for the products I at least expect something in return for the extra cost. If Their prices were the cheapest I wouldn't mind bringing my own bags. And the courtesy counter is not even open as late as the Midnight Hour of the store, it closes at 9 p.m. and if this weren't bad enough it is rare even at rush hour that there was more then a couple checkouts open at a time in most of the Stop & Shops. And this weren't bad enough this evening drawing all the thunder and lightning and heavy rain the covering manager decided to lock the opposite extra door from what they usually lock at 10 p.m. I complain to the covering manager he said this is corporate policy. So I had to risk my neck walking down to the other door I decided to drive down to the other door which I don't usually use because it is the one that is usually locked at 10 p.m. This is why I usually shop elsewhere these days. Such as blue star ShopRite in Watchung where most of the checkouts are open during rush hour the cost of the food is less and they have better quality bags. And the help goes out of their way to direct you to whatever you're...

So a few days ago I stopped by the deli meat area around 9:30 pm, the two men behind the counter seemed to be in a rush to close. A woman and her son were there before me and placing their order. I could see the other man not helping them was aggravated that I was there. I asked him if they were closed and he gave me a really sarcastic smile and said, “we’re trying.” I replied, “ok, no problem” and walked away. As I started to walk away, he claimed he was “just joking.” He continued to talk about me with the other customer. Now this isn’t my first experience getting deli meats here and unfortunately, not the first time I’ve encountered this kind of terrible attitude at the counter. I can tell when someone’s joking and he was clearly annoyed by my presence. I’m asking for meat, not asking you to give me your kidney or give up your first born, so I don’t understand why it’s so hard to just be NICE. I’m tired of shopping at an establishment where I’m made to feel like a bother - if your life’s calling isn't to cut up a few slices of turkey or ham during the day, you should probably just find another job. I won’t be returning to this Stop & Shop for anything. Over it. I’d rather drive the extra few minutes to Shop Rite. Congrats on losing a loyal customer.

P.S. You might want to reevaluate the people working the deli counter at your Watchung Stop&Shop. Otherwise they’re just going to continue making people uncomfortable asking for simple things that are part of their job...

If I could give this review zero I would. I went to the store on Monday, July 5th to pick some last minute stuff that I ran out of. Everything was going well until I got to the back of the store, I slipped and fell due to a giant puddle of water, the sign for the wet floors was pushed off to the side by the yogurts and I was in the middle where they have their baskets with a few items. there was no employee in site then someone came from the back and I called out to him and he got the Manager. The manager did not know how to handle the situation at all. I had to request the mobile cart as well as a bag of ice for my knee. As he went to get the ice I looked around and from where I was standing and saw that there were other giant puddles and asked the manager if he had anyone to clean this up because someone else could slip and fall. the gentlemen I initially called over started to mop up the floor, which I was glad so no one else would get hurt. After I left the store I went to the medmerge down the road and had to get a knee brace because my knee was swollen, in pain, and I couldn't bare any weight on it. The manager took my information, but have not heard anything from the store...
