This place is amazing. It's like a free community amusement park. There are challenges and innovative activities that I've never seen in a playground. There are tall towers to climb (like Bowen Park) but with a neat bridge with a balance challenge going across. It was very cool for my 4yo, but my fearless 2yo was also able to climb up there and do some of the challenges. There are plenty of activities for both little kids (under 5) and for way older kids so no one was bored. There is an in-ground merry-go-round (safer than above ground), a zipline swing for older kids, and a huge family-sized bench on springs that rocks back and forth. Bringing a ball to kick around is also a great idea with the wide open fields just adjacent.
Has a really neat looking splash pad with waterslides too! Looking forward to spending many summer days there. This is in the best place possible - there are families of all colors that can come together, laugh together, and play together. We need this in north suburban Illinois. Great to see some investment in the communities that need it most, too. These kids...
Read moreThe new playground and water park are fantastic. The water park is free to Waukegan residents, has a fenced splash pad for littles and a fenced water playground with 5 water slides for older kids. There is a roaming lifeguard in the big kid area, as well as employees to direct kids to wait in line for the slides. They serve food and drinks and there are plenty of chairs/tables for adults to supervise. You can also bring a picnic to eat just outside at one of the picnic tables or under the gazebo. Your wristband allows you to exit/enter as needed.
The playground has foam flooring, higher areas are completely gated, lots of swings and baby swings.
You really can't go wrong with a...
Read moreI love the new park, however, I think they underestimated how many children are in this area. Since the weather is breaking everyone wants to be outside. That's always a good thing... but the park is over crowded because its not big enough. That's the only downfall. They built a really safe and nice park. It has something for children of all ages. Plus an outdoor water park that's fenced off. The water park does cost and the cost varies by resident vs non resident and daily vs monthly cost. Its nice to have this new park just in time for...
