Ostioneria Briza Azul — Restaurant in Waukegan

Today 3/1/24 we ordered 12 tacos from Briza Azul for pickup on two separate orders. I get to Briza Azul I pay for the two receipts and as I’m waiting for my food I noticed they charged “gratuity/tip” on both receipts without us giving them permission! I asked “Erika” which is the one who helped me out and whose name is on the receipt, why are you charging us gratuity on a takeout order? She simply says “I don’t know, that’s how the “owner” does it here” I told her that’s not right what you guys are doing, you’re robbing people without them knowing! I asked for the owners name which she says his name is “Lorenzo” and I told her I was going to write a review and she offered to give me the money back that they took from me without permission! Make sure you check your receipts when you go here! Who knows how long they’ve been getting away with robbing people! Also from what I know sales tax in Waukegan is about 8.5% and I would know cause I work at a local business. Somehow they are charging 12% sales tax here doesn’t...

I went for the first time for a very small wedding reception. I was hesitant because I saw seafood and I do not do any type of seafood. Very surprising they had good non seafood choices. Actually their parillada was very yummy! It contained chorizo, arrachera, chicken (talking about huge pieces of all meats), cecina and also had nopales, cebollitas, and chiles gueros. About 6 people could eat from this. Not sure of pricing as wedding party took care of this. They had the restaurant broken into 3 parts which was nice. Private room for parties, bar area, and restaurant area. Big on Karaoke there so come in if you feeling like a super star. Lbvs staff very friendly and attentive. Would I come again? Great experience! They start off with chips,salsas, baby bean empanadas and a ceviche complimentary. We had the Cawama drink which was wild! Had lots of shrimp,cucumber ,whole shrimp and a huge cawama with michelada mix, amazing. Kids spaghetti with shrimp, omg so delicious not even exaggerating. Literally 24 shrimp and enough for 2 kids. Had the meat molcajete for $25 and it was huge with an awesome variety. Lastly, had the pulpo(octopus) ceviche and fish ceviche tostadas. They were oh so good. But the octopus tostada was far out and the best. Everything had nice portions and was full of flavor. We can not believe we have been skipping this place for years.
