On September 7th myself and co-owner of my house went into Home Depot – Waukegan #1941, we went into the window and doors department to set up for someone to come measure for 4 storm doors and 1 external door. After some back and forth of the guys setting stuff up on the computer and walking us around showing us the different doors, he said that we would hear from someone with about a week. We never heard from anyone.
I called back and the lady (Precious) helped with finding the order the guy placed, letting me know it was marked as a service they no longer provide, and they basically trashed it. My first question would have been why they didn’t call me to find out what service I was looking for, but that never happened. She finally got everything set up correctly and she said we would hear from RF Installation within 3 business days. We did and they could not get us in until 10-10.
They came out on 10-10 and my co-owner was there, and he said the guy really didn’t seem to know what was going on. My co-owner was asking questions and was basically told I don’t know. He did not take down any information on what doors we might be interested in or anything. Left stating someone would contact us within 2 days. We got an email from the next day stating that our information was forwarded to Home Depot and they would be getting back to us within 2-3 business days. That was on 10-11.
Today (10-23) I checked with my co-owner, as he never mentioned hearing from Home Depot, if he had heard anything. He said no. So, I proceeded to contact Home Depot – Waukegan #1941, I called and asked for customer service. Was put on hold and call got disconnected/hung up on. So, I called back, went through the same thing, and was put on hold and transferred. Started talking with someone and the call got disconnected again, she called back. Finally, I was able to talk to someone she looked everything up and told me I owe $458.00 for the door to be installed. I did not understand that and explained that while someone came to measure the doors, he never took down any information on what doors we wanted and that we wanted 4 storm doors and 1 external door. She got flustered said ummmm and the call got disconnected again. She never called back, that was 5 1/2 hours ago.
They just called a back, over 5 1/2 hours later, stating they only took measurements for 1 storm door, not the external door nor the other 3 storm doors even though my co owner walked with them through the house to get the measurements of all of these doors. My co-owner also said they took pictures of all the doors.
Not only the time frame of how long this was all taking and no one contacting us, I was hung up on with this store 3 times within ½ hour. We are not using Home Depot for this installation as it does not seem that you want...
Read moreI ordered $553.40 worth of smart blinds from the website.... that’s $553.40 for 3 blinds.... bundles.... 3 separate blinds, and 3 motorized attachments to control via an app on your phone. I went to the customer service desk to retrieve my order and was provided with three boxes. Upon return to my home I found that the three boxes only contained the blinds, and no motorized attachments. These motorized attachments cost $89.99 apiece. After speaking with the customer service representative on the phone, I was told I could return to the store and these attachments would be waiting for me. I make a second trip across town to get the remaining portion of my order and now they are demanding I pay for the attachments a second time. After 47 minutes of dealing with a half dozen incompetent employees 38 minutes of which was after they closed, they... with attitude and disgust, allowed me to have my already purchased items. I would highly recommend shopping absolutely anywhere else for your home improvement needs... or if Home Depot is your only option... just go without because the staff isn’t going to help you. I only wish there was less than one star to rate this facility.
Edit: I feel my review was a bit harsh, and I’d like to correct some of that. The Waukegan Home Depot has hands down the very best hot dog stand in the city of Waukegan!! The HotDog stand employees are always friendly, and knowledgeable about their products... quick with a smile, and very prompt service! Also, the location is fantastic!!! It’s right inside the doors!! And if you play your cards right, you can be in & out in five minutes or less without having to encounter an orange apron of attitude and ineptitude. Kudos to you hotdog guy/girl!! Your service is amazing.... products are delicious.... and based on my experience with the orange apron staff.... you hotdog vendors are by far the best and most knowledgeable staff in the building!!! Your hotdogs and friendly demeanor are clearly what’s keeping this location open, because it surely isn’t the customer service representatives or the management!!! Keep up the good work!! An entire staff of lazy and subpar employees is depending on you to keep...
Read moreI was very impressed with the way the staff took the Tim to acknowledge my presence with a hello. I also like the way that the staff direct me to the location I was interested in. I went to one of the Department's staff while they were speaking with someone else and he said he come down to assist me when he was finished. I left the area one on the other side to look at some other products that were similar to what I was attempting to buy. The gentleman waited in the area that I told him I needed assistance. I felt like I could have just given that gentleman a shopping list and let him come back with what I needed. He was very knowledgeable and Not only was he knowledgeable but the type of product that I needed required some extension and he was able to take me to another area that would allow me to extend the water line. I left out of there within 15 minutes and everything I need it was available. The customer service supervisor for the registers assisting me personally and had Herr Lane open just to make sure that there will be no waiting. Forgetting one product of course I offered to pay for what we had up front but since her line was now she was willing to just wait and make sure that no one else was inconvenience by coming up she closed the gate to let them know that it wasn't open at that time so that they're not needed there's no need to be read so there would I offered to pay for what we had up front but since her line was now she was willing to just wait and make sure that no one else was inconvenience by coming up she closed the gate to let them know that it wasn't open at that time that just prevented them from being inconvenience and coming to a line that wasn't able to assist them immediately the team that they have there is amazing I'm glad they're around the corner from my home being a homeowner is hard enough but being able to go to a place that is knowledgeable and can assist you with your new home buying experience as far as product is concerned is amazing Home Depot deserves at 5 star attitude my pet peeve and if you have one I can pick it up immediately and I won't spend my money with you they can have my money...
