We were trying to enjoy the park for our church picnic for the 3rd year in a row, and never had any issues with park goers, we paid for the larger covered pavilion as we always do, but this year we were met with opposition by other park attendees, of whom called the police on us twice because we are a Predominantly African American church and were lied on as well the other said party of all Caucasian people proceeded to come and take pictures of everyone's license plates (WOW!!!!!) AND EVEN ONE OF THE POLICE OFFERS (A CAUCASIAN LADY) PROCEEDED TO GO OVER TO SPEAK WITH THEM LAUGHING AND TALKING...But with us, she called for backup I'm going to assume because I am a pastor, my aunt and uncle Apostles were asking how was this behavior okay... We will be speaking with park officials Monday morning when we return the keys 🔑... The only big downfall for me is that the playground equipment is very high, and as a shorter person, it is a little difficult to get my son in and out of the toddler swings and the slides are very high off the ground. When I sit on the slide, I can't touch the ground, so I can't imagine what that is like...
Read moreNice park. Has things for the kids. You can picnic or fish or walk the trail. The only bad thing is the way the main trail is set up. It's very long and challenging. But it goes from the park to paradise drive. Which is a long way!! There's no distance markers on the trail. So if you do the whole thing. You must turn around and walk back along the same trail. This results in about a ten mile hike!! There are no sub trails to adjust your hike length!! And no loop to take you back where you started. So if you have a friend that can meet you at paradise drive lot. You'll do about 5 miles. So be prepared!! The scenery...
