Sunday was buusssyyyy! I want to give them props for the amount of people that came into this restaurant while we were there!! The ladies at the bar were friendly. It was pretty evident that the team could have used a few more servers and maybe an extra hand or two in the kitchen. I’d be willing to give them a try again, maybe not during their after-church-rush though. We came in for a 4 top, and were told 15-20 minutes for the wait, just after Noon. Some time had passed the host flagged me down, noticing that we hadn’t been seated yet — he seemed very confused, chatted with a server, and told me it would be just a bit longer. We ended up getting seated at about the 45 minute mark, but it was fine because we knew what we were going to order. The server was somewhat understandably short with us at first (again, it was soooo busy!) — about 10 minutes after getting seated, she asked if we were ready to order drinks and we replied that we were and would be ready to order meals, too. She was a tad gruff in saying drinks first and she’s come back for the entrees. It wasn’t terribly long after that she came back with drinks and took our orders. I would get the avocado toast again. The peppers flakes on it were an addition I’d never thought to add before! I failed to read that the eggs come runny — yuck 😅 but that was totally on me! My husband liked them just fine. Hah! The Spiked Rootbeer was pretty bland… more whipped cream than anything else. Pancakes were a hit at the table!! We did have to ask for a few of the sides that were forgotten, but when they came out they were fresh. The lead or the manager was annoyed when we asked if one of the three TVs we could see from our table would possibly have the Brewers game on. Totally okay that they couldn’t!! But the tude behind the response was visible whether she meant it to be, behind the bar, or not. ** Not part of the rating but I feel compelled to note… West Bend, I witnessed some pretty gross behavior towards the server(s), who I believe was really doing their best during the few hours we were there — snapping fingers, huffing about, rolling eyes… Do better. The service industry is tough enough. **

We visited Good Day Café twice on opening week, both for breakfast. The first visit, we had the Trio Skillet with a pancake side (pictured) and the Breakfast Burrito with the fresh fruit side (pictured). The second visit, we had the Challah Bread French Toast, Little Brunchers (kid meal) French Toast Sticks, Greek Skillet, and Chopped Steak both with pancake sides. Pros: Both skillets were very good, with our favorite being the Greek because it was unique and flavorful. The pancake (sides) were light and fluffy. The side fresh fruit was a good portion and variety of fruit, and the little brunchers french toast was a huge portion! Honestly, large/satisfying portions all around. Cons: The breakfast burrito was bland and very greasy. It was very messy to eat as the extra grease was dripping everywhere, and I expected more flavor especially with the chorizo. The Challah bread french toast was also disappointing because it wasn't light and fluffy as I expected it to be. I couldn't tell with certainty, but it almost tasted stale. Especially on the second visit, the cafe was very busy so we tried to give the waitresses some patience and grace. With that being said, we waited over 10 minutes at our table before even being addressed, and another 10 minutes before she allowed us to order drinks. After ordering, we waited over 45 min for our food. Our neighboring table ordered before we were seated and still didn't have their food as our food arrived - we felt really bad! There was a lack of attention to detail (i.e. we asked for fruit on the side and it wasn't, our pancakes and eggs were initially not delivered with the rest of our meal and we had to ask for them). We don't expect this to be an issue in the future so I didn't deduct any stars for service, but we look forward to improvements if we go back.

Good day cafe has recently opened in a location that has historically had a lot of turn around. They're renovated everything - everything is clean, it smells like nothing (which is good). The table, chairs, and booths are all new. It was a good choice to renovate everything. The menu has a lot of options and is pretty friendly to the picky family. They don't have hash browns which I was skeptical of, but the baby red potatoes are actually similar to hash browns and are delicious. I had the breakfast burrito with 1 slice of the cinnamon roll french toast, and my husband had an meat lovers omelette with a side of sour dough toast. Their homemade 4 berry jam is delicious, and honestly all of the food was really good. The French toast was good as well but I was not a fan of the frosting/syrup that comes with it (it was a cream cheese base it seemed like). The restaurant was refreshingly cold. The dinner black coffee was hot and fresh. The service was a little slower than normal, but that may be because our server was about to be cut and I am sure she had other duties to fulfill. The manager/host/owner? lady was really nice. All of the servers and hosts were attentive and helpful with smiles on their faces. This is a nice little place and I hope it stays around longer than the previous businesses that have been in this location.

Waitress couldn't be bothered until someone told her that her family was there. Then, I had to wait until she finished socializing with them before she bothered to take my order

UPDATE: I visited on New Years Eve. The restaurant was packed. I got seated immediately. My potatoes and pancakes were barely warm, and the eggs were missing from my order. My waitress, Steph, took my potatoes back to be heated and get my eggs. The potatoes and eggs came back nice and hot. I also had the chicken fried steak, which was delicious. Portions are large.

Steph was a great waitress, ensuring I enjoyed my meal.

UPDATE #2: I guess the only time I can expect good food and good service is if I visit only when it's busy. The service today (2/27) was extremely poor. I ordered the chicken fried steak with hashbrowns, 2 over easy eggs, and pancakes with coffee. When the waitress brought my food,I apologized and asked it i could have my hashbrowns extra crispy. While waiting for the hashbrowns, I started on my eggs. They were COLD. I then started on the chicken fried steak. It was barely warm, and the gravy was starting to congeal on the plate. The pancakes were also cold. Not once did my waitress ever all me about my food, and I was never offered a warm-up on my coffee. After I pushed my plate away because the food was too cold to eat, the waitress asked me if I wanted a box. I said yes, and I'd like my hashbrowns also. This was at least a half hour after she sent them back. She brought them out. The plate was warm, but the hashbrowns were totally cold, and they weren't crispy like I asked. It appears they were only transferred to a warm plate.

Now, the restaurant wasn't very busy. Much the same as my first visit. I will not go back for a weekday breakfast.

I have her a penny tip and left a note on the receipt that the service...
