Cermak Fresh Market — Attraction in West Chicago Township

This is one of my favorite grocery stores on this side of town. The produce is always so fresh. The Employees are always so helpful and everything is always in stock. If you don't know how to pick a certain fruit or can't tell if certain things are ripe, I swear, the guys are the most helpful at assisting you pick out your ripe produce. I don't know how to pick out pineapples, I swear, but they have helped me a few times. Their prices are GREAT and unbeatable. They have all your basic produce and fruit and all the little extras. The meat selection is great and always looks fresh. My Grandma loves coming here as well. If I tell her I'm going to Pete's, she tells me "Ay, Pete's esta bien caro. Vete a la Cermaaa"....Her exact words lol We live closer to La Casa Del Pueblo, but we drive up the street because we like the prices and quality. the prices and produce will forever keep us...

Found a ghost in here once. If you stand on front of the onion section and recite the lyrics of "Ocean Man" while holding two sweet onions with faces drawn on them, the spirit of Gabe the Dog will appear before you. If Gabe borks once, take the onions. If Gabe borks twice, put the onions back. If Gabe sneezes, say "Bless you, Gabe" and throw the onions across the store. Don't buy anything from the areas they land in. If they hit a person, leave the store immediately and don't buy anything until the following tuesday. If everything works out, you'll find really good deals on raw chicken the next time you return. I ended up hitting an old lady but for some reason she just picked the onion up and left the store with it. I think she knows what's going on but I never saw her again to ask her. This is my go to place for groceries. I live close by so it's incredibly convenient and the prices are as cheap as it gets!

There are always different specials and sales going on everyday, which is great. Cermak market is pretty huge, so odds are you're gonna be able to find whatever you need here without having to drive all around town for groceries. Cermak has an amazing selection of fresh fruits and vegetables (did I mention it's cheap?). I always get tempted by the bakery area. There are a variety of pastries, cakes and drinks. They make fresh french baguettes that are hot and crusty on the outside and soft on the inside - I find myself shamelessly snacking on it while on shopping, lol.
