I'm very unhappy with my visit last. The first time I went in, it was to support my local shop I ended paying $115 for basic design all one color and a couple stamps they told me they didn't have time to do more designs but still took a walk in. I broke 3 of my nails almost right away so I had to get them fixed $8 piece.
When I came in to get my fill I decided to get a new set considering they where unsticking. She removed the new tips I had just got replaced (mind you i got them to replace my real nails since I had a layover except on 2 nails) The woman kept hurting me I told her it was hurting alot and she started humming đ minutes later she said sorry verifying she did hear me when I told her. Awkward. She kept leaving no-chip on my figures so it would burn every time she put me under UV. I told her and she said ok ill take it of right now, has to tell her twice and still I walked out of there with paint on my fingers. Days later my figures still hurting. As far as the design I asked for yellow ombre and it was a mess, completely sloppy I have little bumps everywhere the nude that she picked was really dark almost like a chocolate I asked why didn't she used the powder like I asked she said yea its better but next month you would have to have the same color fill (why is this your choice?) I watched her struggle with painting many layers trying to achieve an ombre, they where left thick, the ombre was not faded at all. She over file my thumb nail and now its jagged on the edge and super concave now it looks deformed. The receptionist was extremely rude and didn't seem to care to let the whole store know what was happening blamed it on the fact I was "10"minutes late. When I was only 5 minutes late she saw me struggling with my bike outside I actually feel and she just watched so none of the designs where attempted because she said I changed my mind. I simplified it by requesting two fingers with designs instead of ea. Finger having design elements. I left a $10 deposit that wasn't applied I paid a total of $90 she said she would remove the charge for the ombre so I would pay $80 for 5 tips and 5 fingers with over lays. What did I pay for? And still got charged $90. When I called she was very condescending the receptionist said she was the owner when I asked to speak to the supervisor. As I'm reading the comments I can hear the tone they're replying don't expect for them to have better customer service experience. I will never recommend this...
Read moreI visited Mermaid Spa for the first time yesterday. I called and made my appointment upon the pictures and review of an associate on social media. The star I gave is strictly due to the warmth and kindness of the person that made my appointment over the phone, as well as the nail artist that did my work. Both women were friendly with sweet dispositions. However, my dip powder manicure lacked the skill and detail that I look for when paying such a price ($62 to be exact, not including my tip). I was first apprehensive of the artist treating my nail with a horizontal crack (after I jammed it earlier in the day causing the split) the same as my other nails. She didnât apply any type of wrap, glue, etc. to the split. Only time will tell if it will break further without any proper repairing. When I pointed out a few discrepancies in nail color deposit, she corrected those nails by dipping them in the color powder again. This appeared to be an okay remedy under the somewhat dim indoor lighting. It wasnât until I saw my nails in the sunlight and brighter lights at my home that I saw that my nails werenât all the same color/opacity. Also, the corners and tips of some did not receive color at all! I understand that the salon has a 7-day guarantee, but this didn't/doesnât help as I had a special event this weekend and was on a time crunch. I also do not have the time to come in for a repair seeing as how lengthy my original appointment and the service already was/is, and the conflict of my work and personal schedule. Unfortunately, I have to take a rather large financial loss on what is easily my worst outcome ever in the 28 years that I have been getting my nails professionally done.
Update: My nails were done on Saturday. As of the following Monday (48 hours later), multiple nails are chipped. I do NOT recommend anyone spending their time, energy, effort, and especially MONEY at this...
Read moreToday was my 4th visit. Iâve been twice for just a pedicure and twice for a pedicure and gel manicure w/design. Pedicure price $36, gel manicure $35 and I have no issue with that. My issue is with the design and the quality of the design for the price. My first design consisted of hand drawn flowers with specks of gold foil on 2 nails. The charge was $15. I thought that was a little pricey but ok fine. Today I got 2 nails that should resemble watermelons. When I went to pay I was charged $85 (after my $10 deposit was applied)making the design $24!!! When I inquired as to why so high I was told it was up to the nail tech. It depends on how detailed the design and how many colors were used. The flowers I got were in May and the âwatermelonâ in July. 2 different nail techs. I think the flowers are definitely more detailed and included a base color, 2 colors for the flowers and the gold foil. I have been to nail salons where more seasoned/senior nail techs charge more for their design services. The difference is at those salons you booked with a specific nail tech. I was not given the option on who did my service at Mermaid Spa because I definitely wouldnât of picked the tech that that this was $24 worth of work. I did enjoy being able to walk to get my nails done but I guess Iâll have to drive out of the area...
