The Urban Canopy — Attraction in West Chicago Township

This is only my second share of LUCSA, and it had already kind of changed my life! Although I’ve always eaten lots of veggies, this has caused me to use new produce in different ways I would have never thought of — I’ve made zucchini/basil gazpacho, mushroom frittatas, and homemade sauerkraut already, just to name a few! This service has made me excited to cook and be creative again largely due to the quality of the produce as well - every vegetable is so packed with flavor and tastes so fresh. I find myself frequenting other farmer’s markets in my area to get complementary ingredients so I don’t have to go to the grocery store! I know it is probably not an easy task to coordinate and execute these deliveries, but I appreciate the work Urban Canopy is doing so much — it’s reinvigorated my love for vegetables and cooking, which has already been so fulfilling....

I am so happy that my food delivery service told me about this organization! I have been with them for the past two years (all the seasons), and I have to say that this is one of the best ones in the Chicagoland area. I used to work with a CSA eight years ago, and this one matches that one that I was fortunate enough to have worked for. The produce is amazing- it never disappoints. It is always fresh, comes in a large quantity, and they usually provide you with these amazing recipes in their very informative and educational newsletter. The customer service is incredible and very reliable. It makes me very happy to see young people interested in providing the community with quality and nutritious food! Urban Canopy was the first compost service we were aware of and became members after our local urban garden ended. The staff was always very friendly and passionate about helping members get their buckets picked up whenever convenient. Several times we forgot to place our bucket outside for pickup on time and we were met with an empty bucket and told to just drop them both on the porch for the next pickup. It was also a fun surprise receiving a small gift card to local businesses that collaborate with Urban Canopy. We are only leaving to utilize our new city compost yard to try out. Thanks...
