The first time I ever went in to this restaurant was to ask if they sold Tamales. They greeted me in Spanish but I responded in English and the lady was noticeably irritated by that. When I asked if they sold tamales she very rudely said no. She didnāt make eye contact with me kept her head down and had an attitude. I respectfully said okay thank you and left. I went in again today and had the same experience was greeted in Spanish responded in English and asked if they had a taco dinner. She said yes tacos 2.50 rice and beans 3$. Well a dinner typically comes with a side or two for no extra charge and the price would be like 7$ or something but she kept saying it was a dinner but charged separately I felt like she thought because I didnāt respond in Spanish she could confuse me. I speak Spanish not well but enough and I am Hispanic so I just ordered a sope with rice and beans and some other stuff for my son and friend. My friend came shortly after I ordered and the lady looked at her in an irritated way. She already had an attitude when taking my order did not make eye contact and kept her head down. My friend is black and I immediately noticed that they kept staring at her after she came in and sat down by my son. Sheās a loud exuberant person and they obviously had a problem with that. I was gonna take my food to go but me and my friend are pregnant and needed to sit so I politely asked if they didnāt mind if we sat and ate. I was given no response so I asked again and she mumbled yea. Didnāt look up or anything. After I sat down I looked around and noticed all of the workers were staring at my friend. To be perfectly honest I think they are racist to those who arenāt Hispanic or speak Spanish. They were rude and very unwelcoming. Donāt think Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been coming here since I was about 9 years old. I fell in Love with chips and salsa here... I still feel the passion in the house made huaraches. I ask for half red and half green salsa. This restaurant embodies Mexico. Great cuisine with authentic Mexican flavor. Ask for an agua mineral preparada. (Prepared topo Chico with lemon and salt.) Great way to ease digestion! Refreshing. Update 6/15/2025 I was charged for someone else's food. When my bill was charged I realized they charged me 15% gratuity even though it was a party of four. Two adults and two children only everything has changed the food is still "good" but the service is horrible the lady was more upset at me because I questioned my bill even though they were charging me for liquor. It was her mistake and she was not willing to see that. It was so weird and uncomfortable and I'll never be back unfortunately. The prices are ridiculous for a small tiny very outdated neighborhood...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was impressively awful. My girlfriend and I each ordered a burrito and a milkshake, which sounded great. But when it arrived, the shakes were melted and warm. At that point it doesn't deserve to be called a milkshake; at best, it could be called cream water. Keep in mind that we live only a few blocks away, so there's really no excuse for this. The burrito was terrible too. I ordered the one with chicken and to be honest, I would be surprised if the āchickenā they used did not come from a can. The burrito didn't even have vegetables! It was just a hunk of horrible mystery meat. Not only that, but the tortilla was very soggy, like they soaked it in some kind of liquid before they wrapped it. The food was a complete embarrassment. If you like dumpster diving, I imagine then this place would be a pretty good option. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and order...
