This place is ~15min walk from Western CTA station. We came here on a Monday night for a friend’s birthday. The restaurant is located in a residential area and the streets are quiet. There are fairy lights outside the restaurant so it shouldn’t be hard to find. We got some Baked Clams and Fried Calamari as appetizers to start with. I got linguine al pesto and the portion was huge. I couldn’t finish everything and had a lot to take home with me. We also got the Chicken Bacchanalia. I thought it was the best dish out of all the ones we ordered (~8 dishes) because it looked and smelled the most delicious. The dark meat came off the bone easily and the white meat was really dry but the sauce made up for that. It was very strong in garlic and I loved it. The bell pepper was soft and absorbed the sauce so it tasted really good. The dessert menu came as a photo album. It’s super cute and helped so much because I didn’t know what most of them were and would have to Google otherwise. I got the Amaretto Cheesecake; it looks plain but tastes fresh. The server brought out our desserts and with a candle on that of my birthday friend’s. She even sang the birthday song with us and helped us take photos. The decoration inside was really photo-worthy. There are vines hanging on the walls and mini Italian flags on each table. We took a bunch of pictures there. The patio seemed closed but I imagine it would be so cute to be eating out there in the summer. The vibes of this restaurant is just so romantic.

We came on a Monday night at about 5:30 pm with no reservation and were seated immediately. We enjoyed the food and especially enjoyed the table side bread and oil. The pasta was very good and everyone at the table had a different favorite though the vodka sauce was a clear winner. We also ordered the pesto and the Alfredo. As far as concerns I first of all felt this place was expensive for what we got. Three dishes with no drinks came out to over $70. However, my biggest gripe was that it took us over and hour and 15 mins to get our food. Our waitress was not communicative about this and we found out the kitchen was short-staffed when we overheard from another waiter. Our waitress just told us it'll be right out on a couple of occasions. Which was obviously not correct and added to my annoyance about the situation. When it came time to pay she took a long time getting us the bill. We were there for almost 2.5 hours and not at our will. I want to hope this was a one off bad day for them, but as a tourist I Likely won't be back to find out and certainly wouldn't prioritize returning.

🇮🇹 Bacchanalia is a quaint and cozy Italian restaurant in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood. I had a wonderful dining experience there with my family. The service was fast and friendly, the portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The menu had a variety of dishes to choose from, but I decided to go with the lasagna, which was possibly the best lasagna I've ever had. It was rich, cheesy and flavorful, with layers of pasta, meat sauce and cheese. It was baked to perfection and served piping hot. I savored every bite of it. The restaurant also has a full bar and a nice wine selection. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with Italian music playing in the background. Bacchanalia is a great place to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and experience the culture of Little Italy. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Italian food and wants to have a memorable meal.

We were trying to enjoy a peaceful evening in little Italy and have dinner at this restaurant. We arrived and had a reservation for 4 people. Two servers introduced themselves, the one who was young was incredibly sweet, however the older blonde one was incredibly rude and disrespectful. The food was fine but as the older server was giving us the check and after we paid she rudely and ignorantly said to my friend "HAVE YOU NEVER BEEN TO A RESTAURANT BEFORE? IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME OR SOMETHING?" and my friend who is from Germany said "yes this is my first time paying for other people here." The older server shook her head and ignored my friend the whole night. The older server then proceeded to gossip to her co-workers about how little my friend tipped, not even aware of how my friend is literally from Germany so she is not aware of the tip practices. The older server then was only talking to my other friend who was American and ignored my german friend, my other friend, and myself. As we left she continued to ignore us but did say goodbye to my American friend.

This service is ridiculous, how can you expect a tip when you act so rudely and ignorantly? Your restaurant is located in Chicago. Many tourists come to this city to explore. It is not only unprofessional but entirely idiotic to not think about the possibility of tourists coming into your restaurant and not knowing about the tip practices. If its that important the restaurant can have a sign that details the tip practices. The actions from this server is ridiculous and she should really not be working in a restaurant if she does not know how to treat customers.

PS. Why did our credit card get charged a 3% fee? We were not aware of this and nobody let us know about it either. You just lost four customers who will never return there and many many more because we intend to let everyone know about this experience so no one else has to go through that and deal with your...

It was just ok. I really wanted to love this place because it's been on my list for so long. It's small and intimate-ish, which was nice. But fake plants and flowers were a turnoff for me lol. Other than that, the dining room was alright.

The calamari looked amazing in thr pics from other reviews, so yeah we were willing to pay $22 for an app. Too bad it never came. Server tried to blame someone else like "oh they didn't bring it out?" Ummm who the hell are they? You are our server. It's your job to ensure your table gets their order. I used to serve, so I get it. Plus they weren't busy at ALL in the dining room. There were 4 other tables dining and two were leaving. So that set the tone. We ordered sausage and peppers with potatoes and Chicken Scaloppini with a pasta side. No other option for a side but pasta... weird. So the chicken was delicious but not with a pasta side lol would have worked better with potatoes. The sausage and peppers also delicious but wow, what a small serving. To make up for the calamari error, they gave us two cannoli, which were dry and bland. But also they are not my fave, so could just been me. My partner didn't like it either.

Server wasn't great. We interacted more with the bus boy more than her.

What sucked more was when we were walking out, someone had the calamari and you could smell and see how amazing it is! Ha!

Would I go back? Not immediately. I'll try the other restaurants around them first before I return. Service is so important and forgetting an appetizer like that...

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years, however after the disappointing visit, we will be taking our business across the street to Bruna’s… where everything seems to be a lot better than this place. To start with, my family and I arrived, we were a party of 10. Seeing as this restaurant never has more than a couple full tables, we didn’t think to make a reservation. We arrived and the hostess made it a point to repeat over and over “who goes to a restaurant with 10 people and doesn’t make reservations”. This comment alone made me uncomfortable, there was literally only 2 tables being occupied in the whole place. In addition to this, the food was very MID, not anything out of just ordinary. Then when the bill came, I was surprised to see the automatic gratuity was added to the total after tax. Anyone who is aware of how tipping works, knows tips are calculated to the SUBTOTAL, not post tax total because it is not a taxable fee. When I brought it up to the waitress she seemed to not like it, and said I was wrong and she needed to call the owner. Later she came back and said she was going to accommodate it as a courtesy…. Which I was just confused about that comment overall. Then to see there is still a 3% charge added on for credit card payment… this business is a joke and petty enough to charge customers a fee that’s the establishments responsibility to pay for… never coming back.. beyond disappointed and will definitely be reporting them to BBB as I have receipt proof with...
