George's & Sons General Construction Inc — Attraction in West Orange

We recently hired George’s & Sons to remodel our en suite bathroom. Upon calling, Jose was sent out to provide us with an estimate. During our appointment, Jose was very attentive to the details of the job we wanted and took his time to field all of our questions and concerns. He provided us with a fair price and we decided to hire him on the spot. We made a second appointment to sign the contract and give our deposit. As soon as this was done, he gave us his estimated start date.

Our project was started at the agreed upon time with the demolition. Juan and Julian were the workers he sent to our home. They were prompt, respectful and worked extremely clean. We were kept updated at all times of the work that was being performed and were immediately alerted when our 100 year old house revealed some damage caused over time. To our surprise, some of these damages were to be expected when the estimate was provided and did not affect our budget or the timeline at all. This is when I knew that I would use these guys exclusively from now on. All of the materials arrived in a timely manner and the work was performed diligently.

In the end, we wound up going slightly over budget because of certain materials we upgraded and two changes that we made to the project. I really do mean slightly and can’t stress enough how great Jose was with us and agreed it was the right call for a better finished product. I have been working with George's & Sons for over 15 years. Many projects ranging from smaller (cement flag replacements) to much larger projects (preparing a foundation to a new 350 square foot addition to our home; erecting a retaining wall along the backyard perimeter). Most recently George and his brother Jose have taken on an extensive waterproofing project to help protect my 100+ year old home. this included deep excavation to the slab of the existing foundation, the pouring of cement to reinforce the existing foundation, tarring of the foundation with two sets of waterproofing materials. We can now face the next big rain storm with confidence. They only hire polite, hard working young men to do this laborious work. I have recommended this company to my neighbors all of whom report great satisfaction with the finished product as well as the steps along the way. We required the installation of a handicap ramp, a French drain system for the backyard, a cement apron/sidewalk extending from the backyard around the corner of the house to the back door (and under the new ramp), the rebuilding of the back steps, and the redirection of downspouts into the French drain. We contacted George and Sons, who provided a clear and detailed explanation of how the project would be executed. The work was completed with great attention to detail. The French drain system effectively redirects rainwater, preventing it from flowing in a stream at the bottom of the back steps. Additionally, the backyard, which previously became soggy after heavy rain, now remains dry. Joe and his brother demonstrated excellent leadership, overseeing their team throughout the project.
