I normally try not to review companies because I feel that one bad experience should not warrant a bad review. In this case, theft was involved and it has prompted me to move forward with this review. My brother in-law lived at the Overlook apartments for 26 years in Apt. 18. He is single and pretty much kept to himself. In October of last year, he called my husband asking him if he could come down and help him that he was having some issues walking. We live about 2 hours away. My husband went down every weekend for a month helping his brother and decided that he needed to see a doctor. They got an appointment and my brother in-law was immediately admitted into the hospital. He was diagnosed with ALS. This is a disease that there is no cure and those diagnosed with it have a short life span. My husband was devastated by this news. His brother is all he has left of his family. He was immediately bombard with all kinds of things that he didn't know how to handle. The first thing we had to do was move his brother out of his apartment because he could no longer live by himself. In December of last year, my husband approached management and told them the situation to see if he could get my brother in-law out of his lease 2 months early because of his medical condition. He was told that that was not possible and that they couldn't let just anyone come in and say that their relative had to get out of the lease. My usually calm, laid back husband got frustrated because of the stress he was under and expressed his feelings on the matter. He was then told that he needed to leave the premises immediately and that they no longer wanted him there. We understand that it wouldn't be a good business practice to let just anyone come in and say what my husband was saying, but the lack of compassion and lack of solutions they provided for him was disturbing. During the course of the conversation he was told that only the manager could make those decisions and they told him when she would be in. My husband took time off of work to come in to talk to her when he was told she would be in and she wasn't there. Twice he did this. Took time off and drove 2 hours to find she was unavailable. We started moving my brother in-law out of the apartment in January. When I saw the conditions of the bathroom it was deplorable. My brother in-law had asked on several occasions to have maintenance come in and fix things in his bathroom. He was told they were short handed and would get it to. Never did. My husband called them out on it and was told they are never short handed on maintenance. My brother in-law could barely walk and the conditions his bathroom were in were dangerous. Parts of the oven were broke off, parts of the fridge were broke off. I have never rented before, but would think this would be maintenance issues. Last but not least, when we got everything out we had left my brother in-laws Xfinity box in the apartment. We don't live in an area where you can get cable, so we have never had, wasn't familiar with all the ins and outs of boxes until a week ago. We thought that box needed to stay with the apartment. Because we are honest people, we didn't want to take something that did not belong to us. We got him moved out and 2 weeks later, my brother in-law asked my husband if he had gotten the box out. He told him he had left it there because he thought it was supposed to stay. My brother in law told him he needed to go get it. He called the office and asked them about it because we had locked the apartment and turned the keys in when we moved the last of his stuff out. My husband was told there was nothing left in the apartment. Now I'm not blaming anyone, but when an apartment is locked and only the management/maintenance has keys. That box was stolen by someone with keys. We are in the process now of reporting it stolen and hopefully whoever took it enjoyed the short time they used it. Still waiting for deposit back. Unfortunately we had to pay for 2 months my brother in law was not in apartment.

I have a new tub, the water runs so I guess that gives Overlook 2 stars because there isn’t an option for 2.5 stars. The manager Steven promises he will schedule an outside contractor to finish up what Joe and Wade started in March 2023 and since then the maintenance men can’t get to completing what was started because they have 100’s of other apt repair orders to do and are short handed. We’re ignored and I’m disabled. I had to buy portable devices just in case they decide to come in one day and say we’re here to finish what we started. I get and understand the maintenance men dilemma, always being under staffed but the leasing manager and Bridge Properties Management doing renovations and putting up all the new amenities in the community why can’t you do better and hire help and please get my bathroom done so your new tub isn’t getting damaged in the process of waiting. Bridge Property Management I’ve left numerous messages and emails with the property manager Steven B and not once has he called me back, why? Here are a few pictures and ants are getting through the walls and our bathroom smells of worn old pipes. Can someone fix my kitchen faucet too. My refrigerator freezes everything. Appreciate the reviews people. Update: under new management and she is great. She got maintenance in my apt and fixed everything mention in my complaint above. She is very friendly, helpful, listens and get things done. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Iv lived in this complex for about six years. It’s had its up and own multiple owners. However its current owners are the only ones that have stepped up the living experience here, and not just with updated units. But also their employees, especially maintenance. For example. iv lived here a while. But this current maintenance staff, is on point. Just recently for example. Iv had issues with my washing machine. I’d expected an extended waiting period. Etc. No, I put in my service request late evening, by next afternoon I get an Email while at work, it’s been resolved/ replaced. Cameron, A well known jack of all trades in this complex. Resolved the issue. These is the reason why iv renewed my lease, maintenance gets it done. And if this complex maintains its growth, As they have been. Is see no issue in a future renewal. And Again shout out to maintenance! Especially Cameron! For resolving all maintenance needs, in an exceptional timely manner. šŸ‘Œ

  • BEWARE* I selected one star only because there isn't an option to select none. I would rate these apartments and the management as a negative 5 star if it were possible. The apartments that are pictured on the website ARE NOT what you'll be renting. I was and still am going through a domestic situation and was in desperate need of shelter for my childrenĀ  and me. The day I inquired about the apartments, I was unable to do a walk-through. Which I thought was required by law... last time I checked anyway. However, I said I won't be able to do one today but, I can tomorrow when I come in to fill out the application and go over the lease agreement. When I got there the next day the lady was in a rush to leave to a meeting so she had me sign a bunch of papers not really going over any of it, just reading off what was on the top of each page. She gave me the keys to go look at the apartment and left. As I walked up the enclosed area, the stairs were covered in ashes from other tenants smoking right outside their front doors, buckets of cigarette butts and ashes smeared on the walls where these people extinguished their smokes.Ā  Mind you, I have two children that I don't want exposed to second hand cigarette smoke especially so close to my entry way. Upon entering, the apartment smelt of stale smoke and rotten vegetables. The fridge stunk bad, there was dirt on the kitchen floor, outlets were not covered, in the room closest to the bathroom wires were exposed from the outlets and protruding from the wall. I have a 3 year old, c'mon. The paint in the bathroom was peeling off the walls, the drawers we're busted and hanging off the tracks. Paint overspray on all door frames and floor panels as if someone went over everything in a rush. Basicly, It looked like they went in shampooed the carpet and left. I could go on and on. I stayed in there for a quick ten minutes, long enough to get a video of the condition I received the apartment in and left. I went back to the office to return the keys (because they said they'd be back after 4) nobody was there. I called and left a message, sent an e-mail while I was at work without a response. I went to the office and was told that I signed a lease and there's nothing I can do to get anything refunded until they could find someone else to occupy the apartment.

Here's where it starts getting good, I received a letter in the mail on the 12th of July saying what my deductions are and the amount I'll be receiving by check in the mail 30 to 45 days after the 12th. Guess what, it's been 65 days. I've left several messages with GreyStar Property Management and I have yet to be called back. I've been given the run around each time I've been able to get a hold of someone in the overlook point appartment office. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe there it a landlord and tenant law that state that if a tenant does not receive there reimbursement within that 45 day time frame then the tenant has the right give them a notice that says something along the lines of, if I do not receive this amount of money within the next 5 business days we'll be going to small claims court. I'm most likely going to small claims court with this. I'm over here living in a woman's shelter as a result of not being able to receive my money back. Even in the lease agreement it states if you are going through a domestic violence situation that would be an exception; you do have the right to break your lease and receive what you've paid in return. I'm livid. I didn't even occupy the apartment. They will definitely be contacted by an attorney. These apartments are not professionally...

I lived here for 2 years (moved out in November 2014). And WOW. It was BAD! Please read before moving in there! We moved in on a special. 699.00 for a 2 bed 2 bath. Which is a DEAL we were like thinking "we can't pass this up!" So we took it. Moved in. I will give the perks first. Yes the living room and dining is spacious. Ok now lets move on to all the cons.

1)OLD appliances that constantly break. My sink has broken, several cupboards, pipe burst,Dishwasher broke MANY times, they finally replaced it about a year into my stay there. Had to do it by hand until then. microwave is filled with grease that is hazardous so I never even used that and they said "just run it and it should pop all the grease off" LOL. Yeah i'll just use my own..

2)Your mail will get stolen. it will. there are even signs everywhere saying "check mail daily, don't leave mail overnight"

3)Maintenance SUCKS. They take literally weeks to come out and look at what needs fixed. Sometimes even forgetting about you all together. Make sure to babysit them and call regularly to be sure they didn't crumple up your request and through it away. MY AC broke in the summer time and I called to have them come out and when they said "we will put you on the list" I freaked out and said no! today! and she said "it has to be more of an emergency for us to come out the same day". So there I cooked in my over 100 degree apartment (thank god I didnt have kids or elderly in there)

4)You pay way more than they tell you at first. You have to pay for a pool key, parking spot, and other random fees that adds up to about 120 more dollars. So we got in on a special of 699. but our rent at the end of the month was 825. Don;t let them fool you! They never answer the office phone either.

5)If someone parks in your spot, they have to be there a whole day before they can tow..so basically it's a free for all.

6)Staff is RUDE AS HELL. and let's save the best for last!

7)COCKROACHES! . My husband went into the kitchen and saw this bug so he scooped it into a cup and brought it to me and said "this was in the kitchen, what kinda bug is this??" I was like not sure let's look it up. and yep. It was a roach. You guys. I went through hell with this place. I told them right away that I had roaches and they only sprayed my apt only. My neighbors all admitted they had them too but apparently didn't mind them? The mexicans below me apparently were the culprits. I filed bankruptcy while living there so it would be hard to move out but finally this past November I called my mom and said I couldn't take it anymore. They blamed it on me sometimes and then they said they were trying their best when they weren't. I through away my brand new RC willey couch, my water cooler (apparently roaches like water), ALL my nice expensive jackets in the hall closet. All because of the sick ass people surrounding me and the fact that they weren;t on top of really getting rid of them from the beginning. I stacked my food on my dining room table because I was so scared of them getting in my food. Roaches are a NIGHTMARE and I never want to deal with them again! And I am telling you this now so you don't have to lose out on money and a quality of life. My Bishop even said he did not like these apartments and heard complaints from many others. People in gangs live there, a guy got shot in the head there. It's just ghetto ass scum...
