My experience there was not as peachy keen as others. I found that the two employees who were on staff when I came in (early morning, shortly after open) were not personable and acted like I should know the process. This initial part of my visit was bumpy and super awkward, and left me feeling stupid because clearly what I expected to happen (them doing the review and offer at that time) was not their way, but they say nothing to you about their process, even though they're entering you in the computer so that clearly means you're new! I was blindsided when I was handed the receipt and told the review would be done in 2-3 hours. I considered just taking my stuff back and forgetting the whole thing, but agreed that I could make time to come back, and left. I was barely home (about 15-20 min later) when I got a text that they were done. Seriously?! You just told me it would be 2-3 hours. I would've stayed! Later on, I drove back up there (who doesn't love wasting gas) and tried to put on a fresh start after a rocky beginning. The same employees were there, and one directed me to a counter where the other employee was standing folding some things. I walked up, and she refused to look up or acknowledge me. Finally after standing there awkwardly, I said hi and that I received a text about my buy. In a very clipped, annoyed way, she told me she was checking someone out and I would need to wait. It wasn't a friendly "I'll be with you in a minute, just finishing this up" deal...it was very rude, bothered, and off-putting. Plus, the customer she was checking out wasn't even there! The lady must've ran back to look at something, but how in the world would I ever have known that? All I saw was an employee at an empty counter, the one I was told to go to. I wasn't trying to cut in line! I looked around for a while to give them time, and found something I liked that I was planning to buy if I was offered store credit. To add insult to injury, after all this, they bought none of my items, so I just left. What a complete joke and an awkward, utter waste of my time. The customer service here is sorely lacking, and I will never return - certainly not from a seller perspective, but not to buy either. I would suggest that for the future, when staff has to enter someone in the computer as being new, that should trigger an established script of how to welcome someone to the fold, what to say about the process, and generally how to provide a good experience to make them not feel like an idiot. And also, don't tell people 2-3 hours if it's going...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery time I have walked through this storeās doors the employees look like theyāre mad that Iām there. There are no smiles no greetings and they all display dead pan facial expressions and cold fish eyes. They have continuously given me inaccurate information about the types of items they take. Every employee seems to have their own set of rules. Each and every time I visit this store the rules are different depending on whoās working. In my opinion, they make it their business to antagonize me with a new rule. Iāve seen them roll their eyes at me and give each other the side eye right in front of me like I am blind and canāt see it. Iām not sure if this treatment is specifically directed at me because Iām black or what. Iāve taken in brand new never worn coach shoes ( business appropriate pumps) and the denied them saying that they had that same style of shoe there for quite awhile and it hadnāt sold. After listening to the employee lie I informed her that that pair of shoes she was speaking of is a shoe the bought from me a week prior. Also at one point a different employee asked me to bring items back that theyād previously rejected ( all items brand new , never used tags on) because they decided they actually wanted to purchase them. So as a favor to the store I made the trip to bring the items back but then they didnāt buy them. I contacted the District Supervisor or whatever her title was and her lack of professionalism was appalling! In my opinion black customers with nice stuff to sell are resented. I brought in a brand new pair of authentic Louboutins never worn and they declined them! Every employee of this store that IāVe encountered has been rude and critically in professional . I mostly shop at Nordyās and am always treated with kindness and respect there. Clothes Mentor is delusional in thinking that their store is a high level business when in fact theyāre just a step higher than Goodwill Stores. Also the advertise immediate payment when in fact the wait time for payment is 5 to 6 days. False advertising is what it is. Just a horrible establishment. Thereās so much more negativity that has happened to me at the store but I cannot fit in all in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have sold and shopped with this location for almost 20 years. Very experienced with the whole process, and it's always different, depending on the management.....meaning there's no consistency of what gets bought. I bring in the same quality every time, and sometimes they sell and sometimes not. So it's frustrating that there seems to be no guidelines for how things are picked by the store.....just seems to go by the present attitude and perhaps age and experience of the buyers on staff. Nonetheless I have bought beautiful pieces at this store and will continue, but after my latest selling experience I doubt it's worth the effort and gas involved. Two days ago I dropped off a laundry basket full of designer purses and high quality, mostly sterling jewelry. The buyer informed me it was just her and another employee on staff, so it would be 24 hours before I received word that my items were done. No problem, I live a ways north and had an appt in the area the next day, so i could be back well within the time limit specified for pick up. When I came back yesterday, I was informed they were only buying a few things to the tune of $13. They took none of the high quality pieces I brought, choosing instead some random items from Shein that were cheaply made and NOT high quality. The buyer seemed to be very young and, judging by her choices has no idea what quality is. I had a chance to check the racks while I was there and it definitely wasn't a case of them having too much inventory, in fact things looked picked through and sparse . I saw plenty of items that were the same brands as what I had brought in, but again there wasn't an overstock. Buying at Clothes Mentor for me is always a good idea. Selling is a gigantic waste of time and gas, not to mention a huge disappointment. If you're wondering whether selling to CM is a good idea, I can say no it's not. Pay extra to sell on Mercari or Depop, or Facebook...
