Read moreA very long overdue review for this park. I lived across the street from the Bill Barber Park for 14 years and absolutely love it. 💚
The park spans two blocks and has nearly every kind of amenity anyone could need except for aquatics. The park consists of 3 huge baseball fields, tennis courts, playground area, sitting area with a fountain in the middle, rose gardens, shaded and non shaded areas, a baseball stadium, covered picnic tables, and plenty of parking. It's also adjacent to the City Hall and the Police Station.
Why I love this park? Well, when I lived in Irvine it was convenient to just pop across the street and walk it, enjoy, bring a blanket, books, lunch, have gatherings, events, etc. it was a safe place to walk, exercise, and be outside and it was clean. Really clean.
Very very rarely was the park overcrowded and full of masses of people. The occasions where it would be filled with masses of people were when the city held the Irvine Global Village Festival, a community wide event. It was always a fun event. The city of Irvine and the events planning committee were very well organized for this annual event.
But, outside of the annual event the Bill Barber Park was pretty quiet and not overly crowded, it really was a wonderful pleasant place to be and enjoy. And it was well kept up. I miss having such a beautiful place...
Read moreBill Barber Memorial Park is another one of Irvine's 268 park system. It is directly adjacent to Irvine City Hall/ Civic center. It is the location of many Annual festivals and cultural events. It has baseball fields, softball field, soccer, vast open space, kids play equipment with individual areas for swings and climbing structures. There are all the peripheral things necessary for picnicking such as grills, tables, seating areas, concessions stands for during the many sporting tournaments etc. There's also a dog training course courtesy of the Irvine Police department, on the far side of the parking lots next to the left field entrance to Debbra Manning softball field. On a daily basis, many people find this a quiet place to exercise with a walk, or just relax and contemplate the day by a beautiful waterfall on a secluded bench. There is also a building for Irvine's child development center and it's incredibly beautiful as well. It is a perfect place to take the kids for their extra curricular activities and fun community classes. I highly recommend just spending an hour walking around and taking it...
