TOP OF THE CHARTS ! A friend of ours who runs a top coffee roaster cafe highly recommended this Thai eatery to us recently....he warned us it gets very busy. And we love Thai food. BRING IT ON ! On Friday we headed over here to grab some lunch. We got really lucky and nabbed a spot in the very tight parking lot. WHOO HOO ! As we walked up to the entrance around 12.15pm we could see this place was smokin' ! It was packed inside the small interior, on the outdoor patio and there were more than a few people waiting outside for online orders. A charming cashier / server named Im handed me a menu on a clip board when I approached the cashier desk. Another helpful server named Joe asked if we had put our name on the wait list inside the door. NO ! But I did so immediately otherwise lunch could take a while. Within 30 seconds Joe beckoned us to sit at a vacant table on the outdoor patio. First up some iced waters while we check out the lunch menu which looked great. We thought being our first visit we would keep it simple with a few appetizers. When our server Joe returned with our tall iced waters we ordered 4 Appetizers...1 x CHICKEN SATAY ( grilled marinated on skewer chicken served with peanut sauce and cucumber chutney ), 1 x POTSTICKER ( deep fried vegetables & chicken dumpling served with sweet chili sauce ), 1 x EGG ROLLS ( deep fried vegetable rolls served with sweet chili sauce ), 1 x SHRIMP ROLLS ( marinated deep fried shrimp rolls served with sweet chili sauce ) and 1 x THAI ICED TEA for my wife. BUSY BUSY BUSY ! We just couldn't get over how busy this little eatery was....the food must be sensational ! Within 60 seconds my wife's Thai Iced Tea arrived...it tasted very good. WHOO HOO ! Within 6 minutes of actually arriving at the front door we had our complete lunch order in front of us....thank you kind server Kay. AMAZING ! And darn did everything look very appetizing. TEN OUTA TEN just for presentation, TEN OUTA TEN for succulent flavor & perfect texture and TEN OUTA TEN for our complete satisfaction. SOMEHOW ! The appetizer serves were much bigger than we anticipated but we worked hard to clean the plates. AND WE DID ! This would have to be one of our most enjoyable and fastest lunches ever. And looking around at the tables nearby we could see their main dishes looked spectacular. Charming cashier / server Im came out to fix the bill. WOW ! We can't wait to return for more incredible food and service. THIS IS A...
Read moreMy friends wanted to check this out because we were in the area. Haven't had Thai food in awhile so I was down to check it out.
Shared the Jungle Papaya (Laos Style) - Fresh papaya, tomato, green bean, Thai eggplant, dried shrimp, fermented fish sauce, and salty crab
Tom Yum Fried Rice - flavors of lemon grass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, fresh Thai chilies, fresh lime juice, mushroom, tomatoes, we added prawns
Pad Thai - Stir fried thin rice noodles with egg, bean sprout, green onion, homemade sauce topped with roasted peanuts, we added chicken
Green Curry with Rice - green curry paste in coconut milk, bamboo shoot, basil leaves, fresh chilies, we added chicken
Khao Soi - yellow curry broth with egg noodles served with red onions, lime, and pickles, we added prawns
For the drink I got thai tea because you got to try the thai tea with your thai cuisine right? Very milky and sweet. Just a touch too sweet for me but definitely tastes like your ordinary thai iced.
Every dish is delicious. You can adjust the spicy level for any of them. The Jungle Papaya is not for the faint of heart. This is strong in smell but also strong in flavor! I haven't seen many places that offer this version with the salty crab. Bomb!!!
The tom yum fried rice was so good! Lots of flavor and the prawns were jumbo sized!
The pad thai is one of the best flavorings that I have had in awhile. You get the hint of sweet, the citrus, the tang. I loved this dish!
For some reason the green curry was almost there in flavor? It needed a touch more spice to it or salt. It had the sweetness to it. But we mixed the khao soi with the green curry and the flavor was absolutely amazing! Felt like we made the broth even better! You get the salty, the sweet, and the spicy? Yes and Yes!
The khao soi was different! You get fried egg noodles IN soup?!!?! say whhhhhuuuut?! Looks pretty and tastes just as good. Different textures and lots of flavor.
And who can forget... DESSERT?! Mango sticky rice all the way! Smells good and tastes just as good! The vibrancy in colors and the creamy coconut milk with a touch of salt. It was sweet and the mangos were ripe. Perfect way to end the meal.
Service was great but the restaurant is tiny. We did outside seating and it was hard with 6 people to one table because we ordered so many dishes. But it gives it a more intimate feel being close with your friends while enjoying your meal. So if you have a lot of people, there...
Read moreSENSATIONAL FOOD AND SERVICE ! A business friend gave us a hot tip a few weeks ago that this Thai eatery was really great. HE WAS RIGHT ! We came, we ate and we were very impressed ! AND NOW WE'RE BACK ! My wife and I headed over here on Saturday to have lunch. It was surprisingly quiet when we walked inside around 12.20pm.....it was packed the last time we were here. Im the super lovely cashier / server gave us the biggest smile ever when she saw us. We sat at a table inside this time with a view of the whole place. Im looked after us immediately with menus and tall iced waters. On our first visit we tried a few appetizers and they were truly sensational. This time we wanted entree size meals.....my wife ordered CASHEW CHICKEN ( stir fried marinated chicken, soy sauce, house sauce with cashew nut, dried chili, carrot )..low spicy and I wanted the KAPOW ( classic style stir fried with holy basil combination of chili, garlic, green beans, carrots and bell pepper ) + $3 Filet Mignon and medium spicy. VERY IMPRESSIVE ! On our first visit we were amazed how quickly we were seated and served our lunch...all within 6 minutes despite the place being very busy. THEY DID IT AGAIN ! Before we knew it out came both our lunch dishes...darn they look huge and delicious ! Oh and we asked Im our server for a Thai Iced Tea which came out within 2 minutes. My wife was over the moon enjoying her incredible Cashew Chicken.....very tender white chicken and crisp scrumptious vegetables. HOLY COW ! I ordered my Kapow with filet mignon for $3 extra and believe me it was very juicy top quality filet mignon and lots of it. We shared the well made Thai Iced Tea...it was a perfect accompaniment to our meals. Im our ever so sweet server checked on us every now and then making sure we had everything we needed. BOXES ! We just couldn't get through everything and boxed the rest for dinner that night. And it still tasted fabulous. ONE OF OUR BEST DINING...
