Worse experience ever. I am a Grad student at Lesley University and I use the libraries rooms to do expressive arts with clients. Well today my work was honored at lesleys scholar day and we decided as a group to go back to the library where it all started. I called yesterday the day before to book the room from 3:45 to 5pm when they close. I arrive today. We where live in a zoom and at 4:30 every few mins the staff kepted entering in the recorded space to say I have 9 mins and seconds later I have 3 mins and so on. This was a big deal for me my school and all the children involved I get that they closed at 5 and as we where packing up to leave a white man that contiuniously kept telling us its time to go comes up behind me and says by the way you need to be out by 4:45 if you ever use the room again and whoever told you you could stay til 5 gave you the wrong info as he aggressively walks us out.
My project was about children expressing racism and than we leave the library feeling disguised because of how we where treated. We also did not have to come back to this library we could have did this project anywhere but decided to go back to where we had an awesome experience for it to end like this is horrible
Ps don't worry we won't be back. Your library is gross and your staff needs to be train on how to talk to children and adults. Goodnight just...
Read moreI came here a few minutes before closing to grab a book very quickly. The woman at the bottom desk was very nice and helpful, and told me I could run upstairs to check really quick as I still had a few more minutes. As I went upstairs a woman stopped me and said they were closing. I informed her that I was told I could run up to check for a book quickly. She was rude and snippy at me. When I got to the second floor the woman at the desk snapped at me that the library was closed. I said the woman downstairs said I could look for a book very quickly. She said all the computers were down and she doesn't know why she would tell me to come upstairs. She was very rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I understand what it's like to want to leave at the end of the day but you shouldn't be snapping at people. There is still a kind, honest way that you can address issues with people. I hope this library talks to their staff about respectful, kind ways to treat the people that visit here. Maybe take note from the woman at the bottom desk on how to...
Read moreBefore I share some issues that I have, let me say first that Tufts Library is one of the best libraries that I have visited outside of Boston...hands down. Very comfortable and very aesthetically appealing.
I would rate it a 5 for sure, BUT there has been a steady uptick of kids running around up and down the stairs, extended louder (for a library at least) conversations that have spread throughout both floors and the outside patio area has become a playground with kids riding their bikes and skateboards. It's kinda sad that I now struggle a bit to find some quiet space to work/study.
As a resident of Weymouth who desires to enjoy this nice new space, I hope that the management is able to assess and address these...
