We completed Giuseppe’s Playhouse with 7 minutes-ish to spare, 4 adults. However, overall experience was mediocre for the below reasons:
1.) It’s new and I get that but desperately needs to be refined. One of the puzzles was broken so bad the manager had to come into the room mid-game, find out it was broken himself, then hand us the next item to advance in the game. We wasted 20 minutes on it.
2.) The clue system is quite poor. You can’t see the clue in its entirety. The screen that flashes the clue cuts off the clue at the beginning AND end of the sentence, so you waste more time trying to decipher half a clue that you can’t see.
3.) The gamemaster was not attentive at all. The clues also took too long to populate. It’s like the game master stepped away from the desk or something. That was disappointing. E.g we would ask for a clue, and she took soooo long that we eventually solved it before she responded.
As a whole, I would give it 4/10 compared to other escape rooms in bigger cities. The staff is nice but our gamemaster wasn’t facilitating the game very well. I feel people go to escape rooms for the experience and the immersion, which for us was ruined when the manager walks in and hands you the clue. I think once they work out the technical kinks & hire more competent gamemasters, the actual concept has really great potential. They felt bad enough that they refunded us (read: we didn’t ask for one). I hope they see this and take the...
Read moreI've done a number of escape rooms in a few different cities and I've gotta say, this one was a bit... ghetto. Some of the puzzles were clever, but we were unable to shut off the lights in a room which required blacklight usage because apparently the switch controlled the lights for a different escape room as well? You could find the clues if you held the light close enough but it was time consuming to search the room that way. Some of the locks were very difficult to turn the numbers on, and one we put the the code in, tried it, kept looking around, and finally they told us we had the right number, so we fiddled with where the numbers were to get it just right. Frustrating that there were almost as many red herrings as puzzles, and kinda weird that they tell you to like their social media pages and show them that you liked it to get clues. I admit I've seen other places do that but it always seems like a shady way to get likes. Nice that they were able to get us in...
Read moreI love escape rooms and don't do them too frequently since I have small kids. My sister was in town and she does them a lot and everything looked wonderful on the website. We got there and they got us right in before our reserved time which was nice.
We did The Cure. There was a LOT of rules to begin with and going to an escape room, I know there will be a lot of puzzles, but it seemed like there was just as many puzzles as there were red herrings which was frustrating. There were also A L O T of puzzles. Like too many for it to be rated at a 45% completion rate. Also, you weren't allowed to turn off the lights in the main room which made looking for info and puzzles on the white walls under a black light flashlight difficult. One puzzle in particular had to start in one position but there wasn't any way at all to know it started there. I also thought it was odd that I had to like their business on social media to...
