We went here for lunch on the advice of friends who rave about it.
Upon entering, you are met with a calming ambiance and quite spoken staff. White linen napkins on the tables and the appearance of an upscale restaurant.
The waiter was nervous and stumbling and admited that he was new when we asked for menu recommendations. Appetizer order consisted of Viet wings and our main courses were the vermicelli super bowl and the golden fried chicken leg quarter. Since we were dining for the first time, we asked for small plates so we could share.
We waited for over 25 minutes before our Viet Wings Appetizer arrived. It was delicious, and HOT! Less than 5 minutes after the appetizer arrived the vermicelli super bowl arrived...we still were still partaking of the wonderful wings.
The super bowl of vermicelli was wonderful, the bowl was almost large enough to sit in the middle of the table and share...as the aforementioned requested plates did not materialize. Neither did the Golden Chicken....what did materialize was an order of un ordered spring rolls....the waiter just dropped them off as he hurried by. The spring rolls were nice but the peanut dipping sauce was horribly overseasoned with mint.
About 10 min after the vermicelli bowl and the un requested spring rolls had arrived, the waiter set a huge plate of fried rice in front of me.....I looked at it then at him...I asked if this was the golden fried chicken. He appeared flustered, looked at the crumpled up ticket in his hand then grabbed the plate and left. He returned to tell me that my chicken would arrived in 2 min.
Fast forward 10 minutes, have now been in this restaurant for about 50 minutes and still have only received half of the ordered entrees...one of which has already been eaten when the chicken finally arrived. It was fried, it was over cooked, it was dry, it was not a leg quarter. It appeared the chef in a hurry took 2 chicken breasts, cut them in a patchwork style to accelerate the cooking time by increasing the surface area and flash fried them. It was un-chewable. The "chicken" came with some orange colored rice, some blanched green beans drenched in spicy mustard. Sad but the rice was actually quite good and the only edible item on my plate.
No manager was on-site to complain to. I will give them another chance as it could have simply been an...
Read moreMy husband and I frequent Little Siagon on Broadway and decided to try the "new place in town." We arrived at 4:45 so the dining room was fairly empty. The decor was beautiful. We were greeted and seated in the middle of the room. Our waitress came and was more interested in training her new employee than paying attention to our orders. Ordered the crab cakes appetizer, which was heavily breaded and very dry. We ordered our vermicelli noodle bowls, mine without mint. When our bowls were delivered, she dropped them off without hesitation or asking if there was anything else we needed and took off. My husband asked after her for siracha and soy sauce. While we ate, another waitress removed her waitress uniform in full view of us eating, which is very unprofessional and unpleasant.
The bowls didn't have mint or cucumber in them (including mine that I had asked for no mint.) When we asked about it, the new waiter stated they did not come with cucumber or mint. The menu showed the ingredients and both of those were included in the ingredients. Another waitress came over to confirm that the new guy was right. The menu was printed incorrectly. Why not say that when we ordered it? Also the pork was so salty neither of us could finish our bowls. The waitress wasn't interested in knowing why or offering to go boxes for our left overs.
Overall, sad waste of money. I won't...
Read moreI really wanted this place to be good but unfortunately it fell short. Went with family on a pretty calm afternoon (maybe 3 other tables) but waiter seemed very flustered and hurried. He got our drink orders wrong twice in a row so we just ordered appetizers. They came out in a timely fashion but were all pretty bland. The wings had good crispy skin but just no flavor. Waiter also never brought plates or tableware until we asked. Waiter had trouble remembering our entree orders and also drink refills (had to ask 2+ times after everyone’s was completely empty). Finally when they came out they were pretty mediocre. The only thing with any flavor was the shaky tofu, but all else was bland and/or cold. Waiter wouldn’t take any empty plates off of our table until we were finished (including empty wine glasses, appetizer plates, etc). The bill had to be changed because we were overcharged for a few things (which normally would be no big deal as it’s a quick fix, but after all that transpired was very frustrating. Food is not worth the price or terrible service one bit. To be honest, you’d get much better service and flavor at a chain like Panda Express than here (albeit that’s Chinese and not Vietnamese). Not worth...
