It was a day where my wife and I finally had a few hours to ourselves this day , as we had just become new parents and work constantly, and if not that , then taking caring of our son , and any parents out there know how little time you have within the first year of having your first child , or any⌠Were in Knoxville Tennessee, so Kentucky splash is about 1h and 30 mins .. As a kid you see things in such an optimistic illusion, that itâs blinding the more you age and evolve, you see the ugliness in people , and how much sometimes someone would just like to ruin your day , because their having a bad day, and on this day it was just that⌠Iâm 27 and my wife is 24 at the age where we believe we know to do the ârightâ thing , specially as parents now. We got in the wave pool and of course we went to the deepest end possible, were amazing swimmers. Although the whistle was called on me for being âon the ropeâ , aka only the side youâre allowed to swim on , I was called on only for no reason , I had never even touched the rope or been 5 feet from it , but still in the deepest end, I was confused at first and didnât know it was me they were calling on, because in my head I know Iâm not doing anything wrong⌠Eventually they get my attention, with a very rude , just not nice way , and told me to get away. It being taken out so mean and aggressively, it made me curious to why , I swam up to the lifeguard and asked her what I did wrong , she wouldnât answer it the first 2 times , with a mean death stare⌠she replied âyouâre arguingâ you can get outâ , I asked again what did I do wrong , from there she had kicked me out of the Wave pool, and to just note , the whole time I saw 6-8 people hanging on the line itself , why werenât they called on ? Why did I feel like a target ? From there I asked for a higher in charge manager , and told them that if their telling you I was on the line , then their liars , simple.. âif you have cameras, look at themâ,it seems to be the only thing that can tell the truth in the time weâre in, they eventually let us back in , but why be ugly to other people? Specially staff , in which is getting âPAIDâ and their to be a support of the buisness and the face of it⌠After we got out we wanted food , so we went to the left side of the parks concession stands and had ordered food , we waited in the line for about 30 minutes, and when finally we got to the window to order our food, were greeted by a youngâboyâ , who asks us to wait before ordering , all to just finish his ice cream right infront of us , idk if itâs just me and the way I was raised , but that seemed VERY RUDE, youâre on the clock making money , and you tell us to wait so you can finish your free ice cream ? OkayâŚ.im the wrong one I guess.. We finally ordered our pizza , we had asked for a whole pepperoni pizza which was around 14.50$ I think , we got the pizza in less then a minute, it was clear it wasnât fresh . We made it to the tables and realized we got a pizza that looked like it had been sitting out for a whole hour, and I asked my wife to go get a replacement, she did , and went to the window and told them this , and they said âIâm sorry Iâll remake you a new oneâ . 3 minutes later she hands her another one , and it wasnât fresh either , both had been sitting for atleast 30 minutes or more , we took literally only two bites and through away the whole pizza, we werenât too upset , just very disappointed, as we thought weâd have the time of our lives their as kids âŚ. Weâve decided once our son grows up this wonât be the WaterPark he ever goes to, yes the admission is cheap , but the saying is true âyou get what you pay forâ. Iâm Not going to tell you what to do , but I can suggest . Save your time and money and go somewhere better , with more rides and a better...
Read moreThe general staff was very friendly and attentive, and worked very hard all day, especially at the concession stand, but the lifeguards let the park go into chaos on the day we were there. Some of them, literally, looked sleepy. Middle school age kids were sprinting through the park all day, while the lifeguards seemed uninterested in their jobs. I was hit in a very bad area of my body by a boy running across a pedestrian bridge, my tiny daughter was trampled by a boy running from his friend carrying a squirt-gun, and a woman that was sitting on the ground at the wave pool had her hand stepped on and bent back by a boy chasing his group of friends. Through all of this, the lifeguards did nothing. It was so bad that I had to walk in front of my daughter all day long just to keep her from getting hurt. Lifeguards would see these huge kids, mostly boys, running down the crowded sidewalks, weaving in and out of the crowds, and many times, would say nothing. It was crazy. By the time the afternoon rolled around, If you had a little one, it became dangerous to let them walk from one place to another. When the waves turned on in the wave pool, the kids went crazy. It got to the point where the wave pool was no longer safe, and I got my daughter out. As I was walking out with her, a huge middle school-aged boy sprinted into the waves with his friends and jumped on top of a little girl in a tube, and she started crying, obviously shaken up. The lifeguard just stood there. I was furious. I asked the lifeguard, "Are you just going to keep standing there, or are you going to say something to that group of boys?" He had no clue what I was talking about, and it happened right in front of him. My wife rescued one boy that was trapped beneath floats screaming for help. He finally went completely under, and she was able to pull him out. She said he was totally panicked. The lifeguard never saw it, even though it happened right in front of him. At the main group of slides, a lifeguard started talking to his friend and accidentally let two people go down the slide at once. The crash at the bottom could have been deadly. Of course this was the same lifeguard that, during a thirty minute delay that the slide was shut down for cleaning, had laid down on three tubes at the bottom of the steps that went up to the slide tower and attempted to take a nap while we waited. I guess he was tired. There weren't nearly enough tubes that were required for the slides, mainly because, in the chaos, kids kept carrying them to the lazy river, and it was just too much to ask, I guess, for one of the lifeguards that wasn't on duty to gather them up and take them back to the slides. Thus, the line to get a tube for the slides was long. Bottom line? Many of the lifeguards weren't much more than teenagers themselves and they just didn't seem to care what was going on. It made the day miserable, and it has happened the last two times we have been there. The restrooms/changing areas are tiny. My wife ended up having to change in the car because of the line. Pay the extra few dollars at another water park, and you will be...
Read moreThis was a perfect experience! Let me start off with on June my family and I went to Kentucky Kingdom's hurricane bay. It was a disaster. My husband and I are very laid back people, but both of us had to be on guard at all times and both of us both almost got into fights. That is not us, but the everyone there was very rude and seemed like they were there just to cause problems. Also the pools were filthy and the ride attendants were rude and unhappy.
I vowed to never go to another water park again. But when my 16 year old daughter asked to go to a different water park for her birthday how could I say no.
My husband found this place and said let make the best of it, "Try and stay calm" is what I told myself all the way down there. But to my surprise we were greeted with smiling faces as soon as we walked through the door.
Getting a locker for the day was easy and cheap. (I think $6) Then my daughter wanted to go on the lazy river. I was dreading it because of my past experience at hurricane bay. It was body to body and a lot of non trained kids just splashing you and pushing through. This was different. We loved it. We went sound 2x before we got out. Ok I said what now. My daughter's were so excited to go on the water slides.
Ok I got this I will just make the best of it. The little blond girl at the top of the red and yellow slides was the sweetest. So happy to be there and was so nice to everyone. Those are fun by the way. (My family rode those slides at least 10x, no joke!)
On to the wave pool!!!! Ok this at hurricane bay was were my husband about lost his mind. And was going to fight another group of men who were splashing my 9 year old almost on purpose. Once he asked them to stop, they got worse. We had to get out.
But here if someone accidentally ran into you or splashed you in the face they were like, "oh! I'm so sorry." "Excuse me." That's how our family is we don't want to ruine your experience. The waves run side to side instead of back and forth. This is way more fun and they let you use floats. Our 9 year old was able to play with us the whole time. Even when the waves were over 5 foot tall!
The bathrooms were clean. The showers are set up with shampoo and body wash. The pool didn't have dirty bandaids floating around and the paint on the bottom is in great condition. (Hurrican Bay was nasty/ filthy, hurt my feet)
The food is like pub food. Pretzels and cheese, chilli cheese fries, burgers, chicken fingers, ect... they had a ton of stuff. We spent $13 on lunch for a family of 5 and everyone was happy.
If you are looking to go to a water park in KY I can't say enough about this place. I hate water park and I'm already to go again before the end of the season! Plus it was only $50 to get in for a family of 5!!!!!
If you're planning. A trip here you won t be disappointed. We spent 6 hrs playing and loved...
