As long as I can remember this has always been one of my favorite places to go and probably one of the greatest historic places I've ever visited. The town has really spruced it up in the last few years as well; they've added a gazebo and behind the park is a great start to what I'm hoping will be a tribute to not only our local veterans but maybe to include the whole state. The park itself has modern playground toys. Personally I loved the old wooden ones. It has covered shelters u can reserve or just show up. What the park is most known for is the natural spring that runs through the middle of the park. I can remember being little and meeting folks from out of state that came just to fill gallon jugs of this untampered cold natural flowing water to take home. Considering the park is not enormous it has alot to offer, and the town has multiple events year around. There is also a stage and seating area right in front where concerts plays and ceremonies can be held for either private or public events. Santa has a personal workshop here and comes to visit every year for as long as I can remember. I think it's the decorating supported by city offices and local businesses that keep him coming back. You can drive through and look at them or park and walk through to enjoy the festivities. The town even holds an annual festival to celebrate the park. You can even take your trick r treaters Halloween for a safe and fun walk through. In addition to the playgrounds and scenic views they also have public restrooms a basketball and tennis court right there at the park. It's really a great place to go and fun for everyone regardless your age. I would definitely put this as a must go to place on any trip through...

Read moreIt's a nice park but we had a very sad experience there. A little boy who was maybe 3 came up to my husband and asked him for water. Which we hadn't brought any extra, and our kids had already been drinking out of their's, which he told him. We would have given him one if we had any. And he had already went over to another family and they had given him some pizza. But when my husband asked where his mommy was he said she's at work and when he asked where his daddy was he said idk somewhere over there and pointed to a huge group of people. The little boy then began to explain that his daddy told him that if he went up to people like my husband with yellow hair and white skin that they would give him stuff. We are far from a racist family. I am part Hispanic and I have a mixed niece so race was definitely NOT an issue with giving this kid water we just didn't have anymore bottles. The issue is that his father wasn't watching him and what he told his son. I found that to be very racist. Dont go to a park unless you can feed and provide drinks...
