Nice park with some good scenery.

As others mentioned, the paved trail is fairly bumpy and could probably use a renovation soon. Also, currently one of the bridges is missing an entire section of barricade (it's "blocked" by yellow caution tape), which seems NOT particularly safe, especially for children. In addition, you have the usual amount of homeless people who frequent the covered picnic areas.

I haven't tried the paddle boats, but I imagine they would be a great way to see some of the wildlife.

My biggest gripe would be the amount of vehicle traffic that runs alongside most of the trail, but if you go during quieter times of the day this might be a non-issue.

Oh, if you see a turtle in the road make sure to pick them up and get them safely to their destination. It's...

I didn't cover the whole park, and still loved it! I stopped for a breather after driving an hour and the water was the first thing to catch my attention when on the road. I wasn't expecting the 2 playgrounds, tennis court, beautiful sitting areas, also benches all along the paths for those that get winded easily and the restroom I went in was clean (there were multiple of them as well). There was a skate park inside of the park! And then a pier which lined a large body of water, full of turtles 🥰 I'm not sure what the hours were, but there was also a gate that led out to a bunch of pedal boats and what may have been kayaks. Definitely a place I plan to go back to with my kids. It'd be worth the drive to be able to take a picnic out and spend the day at such...

My boys and I took a paddle boat out on the lake a while back and had a ball. Hmm... Until we got attacked by like 20 massive spiders in the middle of the lake filled with alligators. Traumatic in the moment, but once we fought them off the rest of the experience was absolutely amazing. Memories to last a lifetime.

I loooooved the dozens of diving turtles and gorgeous, bending trees— and we even saw a couple alligators as well! Tip: Bring water, bug spray and sunscreen and just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Note to groundskeepers though: please clean the boats carefully for paying riders, I’m not joking about the spiders! I had my 6 and 9 year old boys with me and they freaked. In hindsight it was funny, but those things...

A much under-valued treasure in the middle of the city: a 4.5-mile multy-purpose trail around the lake to hike, run, bike or stroll with the family; pedal boat & kayak rental opportunities; beautiful old Southern and Long Leave Pines as well as majestic magnolias, bald cypress, and many tipes og flowering bushes like camelias, azaleas, and gardenias. An all this is also home to an abundance of birds (song birds of all kinds, ducks, geese, osprey herons, egrets, woodpeckers, owls, and even eagles) and a rich variety of wild life: alligators, turtles, fish, foxes, rabbit, cayotees, deer and more.
