Satellite Bar and Lounge — Restaurant in Wilmington

Love the setup of this bar. Bar inside, then outside is band, tables, Cornhole games, and a porch to chill on. I think it was dog friendly as well.

Bad part of this bar is the actual bar. Getting ignored because you aren't a regular is bad for business. Sure, the regulars will always come back, but don't you ever want new customers? We came in to buy some drinks after eating next door. We went to the bar 3 times total(2 rounds of drinks, 1 time to tab out) and were ignored all 3 times. Had to walk and follow the bartenders to try to get their attention, even though they saw us, straight up ignored. Our ticket showed server as :Chuck. Not sure if that is a random signon they all share or what, but they all ignored us, no matter which side of the bar we tried.

Just recommended Satellite Bar & Lounge to a friend traveling in w/relatives planning a move to Wilmington. And I depend on reviews all the time so wanted to post this one now, especially since it looks like Satellite is still killing it! It was barely pre-pandemic when I had a great visit in Feb2020. We love bluegrass and travel a lot for work. A new work colleague happened to play and invited us to this crazy, perfect venue for 21st century bluegrass! I'm still in love w/the packed house of "youngsters" who were so much fun! Bartenders were super busy but I didn't want for the next good new brew to try! We didn't know ahead there was not food, but no worries since you can grab something good nearby and bring it in! I hope my friends love Satellite, too and I can't wait to be back in Wilmington on a...

I love this bar; however, SO many times I go and have a hard time getting a drink! Tonight it was crazy crowded, but only TWO bartenders. If I didn't like the basic atmosphere so much, I probably would NEVER go back. They could make a lot more customers happy and make more money for themselves if they had adequate bar coverage. Many people were NOT being served and walking away from the bar tonight because they were frustrated at the wait time. I know I'll return, because, hey, it is a cool hangout, but maybe I need to just bring my own booze so I don't have to wait for FREAKIING EVER to get served. Oh - I love how they allow dogs in the bar! SO slow service but everything else is good --- but it's a bar and people...
