This was my first time visiting this theatre and not the experience I was anticipating. I attended August Wilson’s Fences play, which I was looking forward to seeing, but could not fully enjoy because of a disappointing encounter with seating. Upon arrival, there were other partakers in our seats and unwilling to move. When a volunteer attendant came over to see what the issue was, we explained to her we weren’t sitting because of the party that was already there. In our row (F) the theatre had a sign that specified certain seats were reserved for a “47 Club.” The members in seats one through five seemed to be seated correctly but the other members and/or partakers from six and up were not. Our purchases were made a month in advance, with the entire row being available at that time, we purchased two middle-seats. Members from the club did not acknowledge that they were in the wrong seats, did not attempt to move and the volunteer staff did not engage with any of them to ask what their proper seats were. We showed our tickets to the second volunteer attendant who came to assist, but she too only asked if we were ok with just sitting in the two seats left. This is the first theatre I have visited that did not verify seating; by asking all parties to show stubs so everyone can be in the correct seat. Since we were only spoken to, I can only assume that this club may be a regular participant of the theatre. Even if that is the case, I still paid for my seat, and it would have been nice if we received acknowledgement and/or apologies from the members and/or staff. The signs could have been a theatre mistake but since no one checked to properly correct the issue, the problem was not fully rectified. Which again is disappointing. I wanted to attend a future production the theatre is having but after this experience I have become very hesitant to...
Read moreMy daughter and I drove 2 hours to attend an opera musical performance by the UNCSA Opera program on Friday, November 11th. The performance was absolutely phenomenal!!! What surprised us is the lack of community support that the citizens of Winston Salem displayed. There were approximately twelve people in the audience, and most of us were guests from out-of-town whose children are considering attending UNCSA. So, to the citizens of Forsyth County, if you want to continue to attract extraordinary talent in the arts to your city, please show support for YOUR colleges and...
Read moreIt is a very nice very theater, but tickets for children's performances are very, very expensive. I don't think families should be priced out of seeing their child perform. The kids who MOST need this artistic outlet are the ones least likely to be able to afford to participate, and then their families can't afford to see them perform at HanesBrands Theater. Hanes has A LOT of money. Maybe they could consider making ticket prices for children's community theater...
