I lived out here for almost 2years. RUN RUN RUN! My stay has been walking around on eggshells with certain people giving me hard glares and tension of another race. I feel like most of people are RACIST that live out here including the staff, MARIE, KATHERINE and CHRISTINE. I feeling like they don’t like different ethnicity with people like myself of color, having the feeling of being discriminated against, even with some residents of another complexion as well in the building giving glares making me and when my family visit not comfortable/welcomed. Where do I start? My family came to visit me and my mom whole MERCEDES got STOLE literally from their “third party” parking deck with security and cameras on file! But they claim this is LUXURY! And my BMW has gotten broken into as well & the link will do nothing about it. You have to walk across the street and into the building just to get to your apartment which is frustrating and dangerous with the crime rate in Winston and when it’s severe weather, which makes it worse during heavy rain and extreme cold temperatures. You spend 10min looking for a parking spot, because it’s 3rd party. You have to walk across the street infront of many people because there is a work building right next to it (flow) which is annoying because it is lack of privacy, unless you are a person who doesn’t want many people looking at you when you step outside of your apartment then go right at it. The maintenance guy GREG is nosey, knocks extremely loudly to the point where I thought he was the police, says words underneath his tongue rudely, and then just barged into my apartment without not one time saying he was maintenance. They make you have a key fob to swipe for every amenity which is frustrating if you want to relax at the amenities even if you are already in the building as a resident, you also have to swipe to get on the entrance elevators which is an issue for doordashers, visitors and if you just simply forget your key fob for a moment. They charge you $50 to replace your key fob.The other guy Brandon for maintenance is cool. They get you here with the luxury, looking good apartments scenery and because it’s downtown but in reality some of the people I’ve dealt with I’ve received a racist approach. Honestly if you move here get a spot on the second floor close to the parking deck that way you won’t have to walk as far. As I am moving out, I honestly have received no genuine service from marie, christine and katherine. If you are African American look elsewhere they claim to be nice but majority people here are racist. Even if they didn’t directly say by rude/racist remarks, you can definitely feel the tension/separation if you are African American compared to majority of people of another complexion living here. The actual apartment which I can honestly say is truly luxury, but it is not worth feeling not welcomed or not wanted due to feeling of discrimination. I’m glad I won’t be renewing my lease either. Honestly it’s a hit or miss. Coffee machine never works. 1 star for hospitality of residents, 0 stars for safety, 0 stars for not feeling comfortable/welcomed/discriminated against, 0 stars for parking, 1 star for affordability but it’s downtown so it’s expected. 5 stars for amenities such as pool, lounge, public rooftop, study room, elevators, & gym. 5 stars for actual apartment of luxury such as white cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, balcony & hardwood floors. By leaving this place you would think I would be enjoyed my stay, but honestly I’m so happy to get away from a racist environment. If they focus on actual hospitality of residents and service, instead of trying to just worry about the aesthetic look of apartments, and addressing discrimination/racist issues this place will be great but until then, good...
Read moreI have really loved living at Link 4th Street, and it is a great place to live if you are a grad student at Wake. The location is great, so walkable and close to so many bars and good restaurants. The apartment amenities are amazing, such as clubroom, gym, pool and 6th floor balcony. The clubroom can be rented at no extra charge to residents as long as nothing is damaged, and my roommate and I would do that for events and birthdays. Our guests were always super impressed with the facilities, and everything was always pretty clean! Sometimes, I wish the gym equipment would be wiped down at the beginning or end of the day because not everyone wipes down machines after using, though. Affordability is pretty good being in the downtown location, and I feel safe living here because of all of the FOBs that one must scan getting into the building (the entrance doors, to get in the elevator, to use amenities, etc.). Although there can be homeless people from time to time, I have never been frightened for my safety or felt threatened. Here, Link lets you choose between Spectrum and AT&T for wifi and the only choice for energy is Duke. I used AT&T Wifi, and my connection was always strong. I never had any problems with it, and it worked great. I paid about $55/month. Additionally, maintenance staff was so friendly and helpful. Once I put in a maintenance request on the portal, it was always resolved within 24 hours, max!! This was great compared to other places I have lived that will go weeks without resolving a maintenance issue. The worst part about living here is the parking situation-- you have to completely exit the apartment on the first floor and walk across Poplar St. because the parking deck is managed by a third party company. Unless you are returning home around 5 p.m. on a week day when everyone else is leaving work, you'll most likely have to park on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floors of the deck, which can be annoying. It would be super great if the Link Properties could reserve a certain number of closer spaces to the building on the lower floors for their residents-- I think so many of us would appreciate that. During the day this was fine, but sometimes at night I would stay in or Uber somewhere instead of using my car because I dreaded the walking outside in the dark in a not well-lit area. My only other complaint is that the wall paint is pretty cheap and scuffs so easily. Scuffs and scratches did come out after using a wet washcloth, but it felt a little ridiculous to be touching up my own walls after I only brushed it with my bag or something else. Scheduling move out soon literally only based on slight price comparison in the area, downsizing to a 1 bedroom and a better deal with specials elsewhere, but literally would...
Read moreMoved in yesterday and already love it! Move-in was made easy by Christine. She went above and beyond for me and deserves a raise! I also talked to another lady in the office just for a moment, but she also seemed very attentive and sweet.
I'm living in an A2 apartment, and I'd say it's the perfect size for one person. Top floor (tucked in the corner of Poplar and 4th Street), and I don't hear much street noise and have a pretty nice view!
From what Christine was telling me, they also have happy hour and different community events going on; I'm not sure if I'll take advantage of it because my life is pretty busy now, but if you don't know anyone in Winston, this sounds like a great way to meet people!
Parking garage is across the street and seems very safe and clean. I used to park at the garage on Marshall Street, which has a decent amount of homeless around, so there's a constant urine smell and no security. This parking garage, on the other hand, has security late at night and no smells!
Their package delivery system is done via app, which is really cool. You use the same fob to get into everything in the building, including the parking garage across the street. I personally go to LA Fitness, but the gym here will be good for a majority of people. Pool and patio is nice. Common area is nice.
Honestly, place is great. Can't imagine anything would change that, and I wish I was going to be living...
