A Christmas Carol (December 18-22) Little Theater of Winston Salem
Don’t miss it! My wife and I saw A Christmas Carol last night and highly recommend it to y’all. It is a great show for families or a date. The cast for A Christmas Carol is quite large, very talented, includes long time performers as well as a few first timers. I couldn’t tell the veterans from the rookies! The age range of the talent is youngsters in grade school and high school to some nearer but not close to my age. There is a father and his daughter in the cast, teachers, grads of UNCSA, and even a wonderful violinist. The costumes are beautiful or dreary as appropriate. The set and staging are very well done. I don’t want to offend anyone in the cast because I think that they all were excellent but the actors who stood out, partly because of their roles and mostly because of their performances were, Ebeneezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and grown up Belle. Scrooge, reminded both of us of Hugh Laurie, of the TV show House. His facial expressions and mannerisms are priceless. Bob (whose daughter is a member of the cast) is engaging and sympathetic at the same time. Belle is beautiful, sympathetic and wistful in that she makes you feel that she never forgot the younger Scrooge.

The walls are covered with local artwork. There is a small, but interesting gift shop along with a small concession stand. The theatre itself seems to be a typical black box. The sound was good. Everything...
