Offered me $13 store credit for a pack fresh Orcish Bowmaster. TCGPlayer lists the card as worth $30. Picture of the card they said was light play is included.
As you can see from the card there is nothing that would warrant a Light Play grade. At worst the card is Near Mint. Be careful this shop will try to grade your cards down.
What is most disheartening is I came to the store with the intention of buying Tiny Towns board game at MSRP of $49.99. I was trying to use the value of the card to pay down the balance I would have to pay for the board game. I go to their computer to give my card for assessment and they list the store credit price as $15.xx. Knowing the TCG player average was around $30 that already seemed like a bit of a rip off, but I wanted to support a local business. So I peruse while they take their time grading the card. After 5 minutes they let me know the card pictures is in Light Play condition pointing to the upper left corner of the card pictured and offered me $13.xx.
So let me get this straight: You want to pay me $13.xx for a card that is at least $30 in near mint condition. Then you want me to pay you another $37 for the board game? You know what Tiny Towns sells for online? $35!
So all in all they wanted to give me less than 50% of what the card was worth while charging around a 30% mark up over internet retail for the board game.
Sure the store was very nice and the staff was polite, but the bottom line is I left feeling ripped off and feeling like they must rip off a lot of younger people who don’t know the value of their cards.
Please see the picture of TCGPlayer’s condition guide for Near Mint and their current value of the card when I...
Read moreFirst I want to say as a business you have the right to buy or decline products of your customers, I'm ok with that. But what I'm not ok is wrongfully grading your items brought by your customers for yourselves. I'm a regular at your establishment, & every now and then I sell to you guys no problem except that I just noticed a trend with one of your employees (name shall not be said) but always wears a mask. After staying 35+ mins on your store he dare grades a few cards as heavily damaged & did not want them, when in fact they weren't, yet decided to take a few as acceptable but those had nicks to begin with when the others did not. I challenge his grading as he explained that they have a strict grading policy. Funny because I have not experienced such troublesome experiences with your other fellow employees. I know about investment and inventory and if you guys are in capacity limits of items or just don't see it fit for resale than just say..(we do not need these items at this time) do not belittle customers with such excuses. As I took my business elsewhere at cool stuff at Maitland I stood 45+ min grading my items and manage to get a fair deal with all and none landed as Heavy Play items. i had near mint, played & moderate. I sale to many stores around the area of polk, Kissimmee,Orlando & TCG player with no problem. Such practices will & can start alienating your fellow customers for future purchases and...

He will always be a positive person. That's because some people can get an 18th century¹ math number. Or Romsn numeral as their star rating. But my generation calls Ryan "wow that cool cat is out of sight." That right, "I'm talking bout my generation...." Rolling stones gather no moss.
