Atmosphere I will say its very ethnic, clean, smells good aside from the childrens show on the tv a place I would be honored to dine at, The lady running the store doesn't speak much English so I didn't really know what I was even getting, Food was OK, I got the vegan combo plate, and vegan samosas, the samosas would be very nice I'm sure if fresh but they had been sitting by the register for who knows how long and definitely tasted stale, the combo plate comes with what I learned from reading other reviews is Injera, similar to a pancake, I got two of the Injera with the 4 different curries and some other veggie mix on top, whatever the yellow curry was my favorite I would order that again but I dont even know what its called since they only offer 1 other vegan option on their menu, the other ones were kind of meh and also maybe tasted old or low quality ingredients used to me can't really explain how I know that or what it was exactly just wasn't big on them... and the Injera itself was just too much all crammed in my clamshell. It's kind of nasty, in my opinion, until the curries soak into it. I would put Injera on the bottom and curry of one kind on top. Idk my kid liked the injera, tho. Overall, for the price of 16.99 and $1 each for the stale samosas, I probably...
Read moreWhen you first enter you don't see the restaurant. It is to the rear of the store wall. A compact restaurant with lots of decorations on the walls, about a dozen tables and chairs and fabulous food. So good, we went twice in a week. We had the vegan platter which was a full meal for two - two injera with 3 types of lentils, two types of vegetables and the pea paste dish. All very tasty. The table has the spiced chilli powder to sprinkle on the food. The owner/chef Sosana (spelling?) and her mother cook the food and it is fresh and very tasty. The employee at the front is very helpful and willing to answer questions about decorations on the wall, places and the script. We learnt a lot of their country from them while enjoying our delicious, balanced meal.
The place is extremely clean and well-maintained. The wash area and bathroom were very well maintained as well.
It was quite quiet in the restaurant though the store in front had steady stream of customers. I hope other Wylie and Dallas folks find the place and frequent it.
All in all,...
Read moreI’ve been eating here off and on for about a year. Recently, purchased the Beef Tibs and Gomen (Collard Greens). It’s always satisfying to my liking. It’s a limited menu but it works for me when I really want Habesha food and don’t want to travel too far. I went there yesterday June 3 2024 and the lady who answers the phone and cooks in the back told me they’re not providing hot food anymore. The store was totally re-arranged. I also asked about participating in a coffee ceremony and she told me they don’t have it anymore. But there’s a coffee ceremony set up right in the middle of the store. Soooo 🤷🏽♀️ idk. She told me it’s only a grocery store now. I meant to grab some seasoning but she kinda threw me off. Used to be my...
