4th of July, Yachats. Badass firework show, however, the experience is bar-none tops of all shows. There are folks blasting off everywhere - at the bridge, on the outlet, across the bay, all around us, right over our heads and showering all around us. It was as though 4 or 5 different mini shows were popping off for the whole hour before and most of the hour after the show. Poy dancers, flash poles, lasers, live band across the bay, dudes with guitars milling about and kids Everywhere. Last year's show was better, maybe just longer, but the overall experience this year was the best one yet. Whatever you're doing 4th of July next year, be certain to do it in Yachats. You will not be...

Easy to pull over with trailer when it's a weekday :) Fabulous view! Walked down and checked out rocky escarpment and found some cute agates. Watch your back! Easy to get a sneaker wave all over your bad self. Do not DO NOT let kids get close to edges. Super danger. A young man lost his life about 1 mile north of here falling in. It's not always the safest place in earth, but it's absolutely fine with some extra looking out and common sense. Rocks are sharp-ish. There are rules and laws about taking things away, alive and otherwise, I'm sure, but when I was a kid we collected mussels...

Such a beautiful little detour and one of the prettiest spots along the coast. We could easily sit for hours watching the waves crashing over the rocks.

FYI: This little hidden gem is set back and if you don't know it's there you might miss it.

If you take this detour, please be mindful of the residents living along this little stretch of road. They are very gracious and patient so try not to drive through at higher speeds and music blaring. Stop and wait when they need to cross and watch out for...

A fabulous beach and view of S Yachats . We loved the magnificent ocean and beach, and so did the birds. Parking near the path down is easy, and well worth the modest effort. We stumbled upon this road and beach 2 yrs ago and were determined to be there again. Our visit last week was even better than our first, as we had a better understanding of what we were experiencing. One of these pics is my new screensaver…

A beautiful park where the river meets the ocean. We rented a double kayak for $20 from the Yachats hatdware store and wheeled it across the bridge and launched from this park. We paddled from the sand bank up the river and it was serene but a little bit windy. We went a couple miles up and back and it was perfect for kids. I think we could have gone another couple miles.
