Where to even begin with this place? They have been so kind to my family over the years that it seems only right I leave a review of my experiences.
This is, hands down, the best place I've ever had the privilege to visit. Let's start with the staff. They're as helpful as you could hope to find in the most famous hotels in the world. They've even allowed my family to check in early several times for our convenience. When I was younger, and quite shy, I remember being comfortable enough with the staff to go to the office alone and talk to them myself.
Next, the location. A quiet single lane road is the only thing between the inn and the ocean. If you're facing the ocean, to the left of the hotel is a stretch of rocks where waves crash and cause spray at high tide, and you can find tidal pools at low tide. To the right, there's a huge, lovely beach, and if you walk all the way to the end of it, a river flowing out to sea. Although it's not my cup of tea, my uncle insists the area is the best for crabbing and harvesting mussels that he's ever found. There are huge blackberry bushes all along the top of the beach. My cousins and I have spent hours picking them.
Yachats itself is a beautiful town, with friendly people and an idyllic feel. The place boasts great restaurants, coffee shops, and an old favorite store that sells candy and ice cream. If you don't want to drive, the town is within walking distance from the inn, as long as you're willing to walk by the road on the edge of the bike lane.
Less than 10 minutes drive to the south of the inn is Cape Perpetua, which includes the Devil's Churn, Thor's Well, Spouting Horn, and many beautiful hikes with views of the ocean. It's worth a see if you can spare the time.
Onto the rooms! Yachats Inn has older rooms, and newer suite-style rooms. Having stayed in both, the suite-style rooms are definitely superior, although all are kept very clean. The older rooms have a better view, but they have a tendency to feel damp in the humidity. The suites are large and bright, with a balcony and a full kitchen.
The most standout thing about the inn to me, however, has to be the pool. It's beachfront, with the entire wall facing the ocean made of glass. There's both a pool and a hot tub, and a balcony where you can watch the sun set over the waves. It's been the site of dozens of hours of happiness for me over the years.
The price is stunningly low for everything you get by staying here. I've been all over the West Coast, and nothing has ever compared. I doubt anything ever will.
So, to summarize: This place doesn't feel like luxury. Instead it feels like home. Beautiful place, fantastic staff, amazing for both kids and adults, and has managed to satisfy my entire extended family over half a dozen times. (The same family who were in disagreement throughout our trip to Hawaii).
You won't find a better place to stay on the Oregon coast, and in my humble opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find...
Read moreWe can’t quite put into words how much Yachats Inn is just our perfect place to get away to. We first stayed here just over 10 years ago and we kept coming back to its charming, cozy, no-frills but all the-thingys we love vibe. This historic Inn has everything we love with a RAD staff, an oceanfront pool, and a huge hot tub that’s open year-round. This place has that “I feel at home” vibe instead of the modern cold feeling of most hotels. Yachats Inn is located on one of the most dynamic areas of the Oregon coast and there’s a great view to downtown Yachats from just walking out the door. And downtown is just a quick walk away. There’s also a great beach just a skip away for exploring with pups. We adore the older rooms that are closer to the ocean - the brick walls and the sounds of the ocean keep out any other sounds. There are also newer kitchen suites that are closer to the road but have great views and decks/patios with sofa beds. The communal “lounge” area in the middle of the property there are games, a place to watch TV with a group or play music, and a large selection of DVDs that you can take back to your room. There’s even an old-school Tetris video game to play. Being at Yachats Inn makes us happy to detach from modern technologies and streaming services, as that’s why we get away to the coast. I think my favorite feature of Yachats Inn is how they have different suites in the older buildings which are all so different and awesome in their own way. We’ve enjoyed staying in different suites and rooms each time we go. We came back to Yachats Inn so many times over the years that we decided to get married here in 2023! The event space (the “Tea House”) they have for hosting events is fantastic - with a full kitchen and huge deck in a beautiful space with a pond and a great sunset view. But, like I said, I can’t put it all into words the love we have for Yachats Inn. We highly recommend this place for a cozy experience in Yachats to connect with yourself, and/or...
