This a great outing for adults and children during the Holidays. I'm surprised so many people don't know about it. It's become my family's Christmas tradition that we always look forward to and the theme changes every year. It never fails to delight and get us in that holiday mood! We like to go early in the Season because this place inspires us to go home and decorate! The old mansion with it's beautiful wood paneling, Arts&Crafts windows and elegantly furnished rooms transport you to another time and way of living. And when it is decked out for Christmas it is absolutely stunning! The children in our group were awestruck with the glittering Christmas displays. One year, there were one or more "elves on the shelf" hiding in every room and the little ones loved looking for them; that was a big hit with them! The vintage and antique toys and ornaments brought back a flood of memories for the older folks. Check their schedule for extras, like holiday crafting and games. Give yourself plenty of time for those activities, there were a lot to do and all of them were fun! A huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers that make this possible every year! It's a beautiful holiday gift...

It was difficult to enjoy the beauty of the displays and to share all of the discoveries with my family after having been treated with such disregard and made to feel...

It's well worth a visit on its own, but you should definitely stop here if you are also visiting the Tyler History Center. Admission to both museums on the same day is included...
