This was a fabulous museum. And one of the best in Colonia.
I learnt so much from this museum. The staff were multilingual, friendly and excited by origami. They were able to explain all the techniques and tools.
The museums displays are international and well laid out and catalogued.
There are guide books available for use in the museum that explain the exhibits in a range of languages. And these books are free to use when exploring the exhibits.
There are also QR codes on all the displays that explain each exhibit in English or Portuguese.
I would say that this is definitely a must visit museum while in Colonia. You’ll learn a lot from this charming museum and the lovely lady...
Read moreWhat a delightful find. This tiny museum in a historic building in this UNESCO city is one of those places that you didn't know you needed to know. An Italian artist made and donated an origami illustrated book of Pinocchio eapecially for the museum. And the origami dress! There are also books, DIY kits and earrings in the...
Read more🇧🇷 Passeio cultural em Colônia del sacramento - Uruguai.

The purpose of the museum is to show that origami is universal and has several functions beyond leisure, such as being used in art therapy, science and mathematics. It’s a small place, so it's a quick cultural tour. They sell books on how to make origami and some products made of washi (Japanese paper) such as earrings and bookmarks. It costs UYU 80/per person, or UYU 150 for 2 people (price as of July 2023). I consider it a very interesting tour...
