The Stone Gate, also known as the South Gate of Itchan Kala, is one of the most iconic and historically significant entry points to the walled old city of Khiva, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uzbekistan. This monumental gateway once served as the main southern access to the inner fortress — a threshold between the bustling outer town and the sacred heart of Khiva’s spiritual and political life.

Südtor Tasch Darwasa ( Steinernes Tor ) Die Innenstadtmauer hat vier Tore, die nach vier Himmelsrichtungen orientiert sind. Jedes der Tore ist je nach seinem Standort oder nach einem anderen Merkmal benannt. Steinernes Tor, das Ende des XVIII. Jahrhunderts aufgebaut wurde, hieß früher Angarik Tor, da der Weg von hier zum Kischlak Angarik (zum Dorf Angarik) führte. 1842 ließ Allakulichan die Außenstadtmauer (Mauer von Deschan-Kala) aufbauen. Zwei Tore - ein Tor in der Außenstadtmauer und ein in der Innenstadtmauer – lagen jetzt sehr nah beieinander. Das Südtor Angarik in der Innenstadtmauer blieb innerhalb der Außenstadtmauer und bekam einen neuen Namen – Tasch Darwasa, Steinernes Tor. Zu Anfang des XX. Jahrhunderts war vor diesem Tor ein Markt, so dass der Platz vor dem Tor und Steinernes Tor selbst den Namen Köhna Bazar (Alter Markt) bekommen haben. Steinernes Tor war ein vom Norden nach Süden ausgedehntes Gebäude, in dem es viele Räume gab. Dieses Tor diente dem Schutz der Stadt, es wurde abends und nachts geschlossen. Das Südtor Tasch Darvaza wurde früher von etwa 10 Wächtern bewacht, die dafür von 4 bis 10 Goldmünzen als Gehalt bekamen. Das Innere des Steinernen Tores wird von zwei großen Kuppeln bedeckt.
