Honestly, I have no idea why this restaurant is so highly rated. The views are nice but not worth the service and food. The service is poor - we arrived for lunch and despite seeing at least 3 free tables available none of the 3 waiters cared to help us sit. After choosing a place, we also had to wait for a long while until someone finally came and got our orders. I had a hungry small child clearly wanting some food and yet, none of them cared to bring at least a portion of our order (one of which was appetizers that can be quickly brought to the table - see photo). To my surprise, two other groups that arrived after us were served all of their food before us. I asked them if they could speed up a little (it’s been 30min of wait now). They finally come with one the appetizers, then with another one and finally with the last plate. Price wise, honestly there are way better restaurants in the other tourist cities of Uzbekistan with much better quality for a half of the price of this place. It really looks like a place made for tourists only, which is a pitty for such a great location and the chance to showcase the amazing Uzbek cuisine. The fried dumplings we ordered were good but the plov was just ok, with very few thin slices of meat, so not worth the 70k sums for it alone. Total bill was 240k sums for one adult and a small child - don’t convert to USD and think it’s an ok price as none of the other top restaurants in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva charge as much...

Read moreI really wanted to love this place. We even went twice, as it was one of the better reviewed restos in the old city.
The first time we went without a reservation, I really appreciated how they accomodated us on a whim. They even checked in the kitched for gluten and cumin in my meal, which was a nice portion, but taste wise just mediocre tbh. Service was nice and the live music very lively.
The second time we went with a reservation and got an even nicer table. This time we took an appetizer, the khiva platter or something, which in my eyes was just sad for 75k som (4 measly olives, baby portions of spreads that didnt taste great and day old bread). The mains were all right, but overall it is definitely overpriced for the portion size and quality. We ate in much better restaurants in Uzbekistan for cheaper prices, so make sure you tame your expectations when you go. Also after the second time my partner and I both got very strong diarrhea so I would be careful and maybe try vegetarian meals instead of meat heavy dishes.
I definitely recommend going once, because the atmosphere is nice.
I also appreciated that there were no added service fees, but with the prices I think they are already...
