Atmosphere Phu Quoc Night Market is lively, especially in the evenings, filled with the aroma of local street food and the sounds of vendors calling out to visitors. It's a colorful and energetic place, where locals and tourists mingle to enjoy a taste of island life.
Food and Dining One of the highlights of the market is its wide selection of seafood, which is caught fresh daily from the surrounding waters. You'll find stalls offering everything from grilled shrimp, squid, and lobster to more exotic options like sea urchin. Many visitors recommend trying the local delicacy "bánh khọt", a savory pancake topped with shrimp.
In addition to seafood, there are also vendors selling tropical fruits, Vietnamese desserts, and beverages like sugarcane juice and coconut water.
Shopping Aside from food, the market has various vendors selling souvenirs, local crafts, and clothing. Items such as handmade pearl jewelry, conical hats, and locally produced sauces and spices are popular with visitors. Prices can vary, so bargaining is common and often expected.
Entertainment The market occasionally features street performances, including musicians and artists. It's also a great place for people-watching, as you’ll see a mix of locals going about their daily routine and tourists exploring the island.
Pros Great food variety: Especially seafood, which is fresh and reasonably priced.
Authentic experience: Offers a slice of local life, giving insight into Phu Quoc’s culture.
Souvenir shopping: A variety of local items can be found, including unique crafts.
Cons Crowded: The market can get quite busy, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Limited seating: While food is abundant, finding a comfortable place to sit can be a challenge.
Tourist-driven: Some stalls cater heavily to tourists, which may affect the authenticity and pricing of certain items.
Tips Visit earlier in the evening to avoid the larger crowds.
Try a little bit of everything; many portions are small, so you can sample a variety of dishes.
Always bargain politely when shopping for souvenirs.

Read moreThe reasons for 3 stars will be explained in details as below:
Pros: This place has good food, good experience, worth a try for people from different background to try Vietnamese seafoods. You can pick the seafoods straight from the ponds and have them cook right in front of you. They have a convenience store called King Kong, which selling everything at a reasonable price, compare to other places around this area. The market is reasonably safe, no pick pockets or any funny businesses that would follow you and ruin your experience.
Cons: There will be a group of tour sales people, they might send out different flyers, but its all the same guide, tour (3-4 islands, whatever). These salesmen and women work for LONGTOUR PHU QUOC, which is not a publicly advertised company. I will not go into details about this but make sure you check the reviews for LONGTOUR PHU QUOC and make your own decision on choosing the tours. Another group or salespeople (black shirt, red collar) would shove all kinds of nuts in your face (no pun intended!) to advertise and try to sell them. Not a great thing to see if you’re having nut allergies. Foods (in general) would be handled at a bare minimum level of sanitation. Hands can be both holding cash and serving food all at the same time. Go for your own risk.
Overall: I would go around and take a quick look of the menu (you can take pictures to compare the prices) before stepping into any of the restaurant.
It’s better if you choose your own seafood, rather than having them from the menu.
Make sure you ask the staff regularly about...
