Where do I start! Firstly I’ve stayed at the old lion my last few visits and thought I’d try something different as I’ve been really happy so far - I’ll say so far!
I received a phone call the day prior to check in stating that check in was off site and I had to visit another location that that would email me. This was news to me as it does not state this on the qantas website. So after arriving in north Adelaide I checked the email and proceeded to m suites up the road. After finding a park I was informed that I was given the wrong information and they only check in there for after hours guests - seriously? And I was told that I had to drive 1.5k to the old lion to check in.
So again in the car drive across town to check in. As with my other check ins at the old line it went smoothly but unfortunately I had to get back in my hot car and then drive all the way back to my hotel.
After arriving and opening the door it smells like someone has set off a floral bomb. Ok I understand make it nice but I’ve been choking on it for days. Room 120 if anyone needs to avoid!
The internet does not appear to be visible for the free wifi - I did not bother calling the desk to enquire as service was clearly in another part of Adelaide.
All in all very disappointing stay, I really like the old lion appartments and question even if I will stay there again due to this. If you are going to run a hotel as an AirB&B inform your customers because this is not a hotel and nor should we be paying for the service of one. Sorry!
Oh and what’s with not having a cover on the quilt? I just think that’s a bit filthy...
Read moreVery good location, good rooms, but the check-in experience was TERRIBLE!
Despite the sign on the door saying the check-in is conducted over the phone (see photos), I was forced to put my bag back in the car, drive someplace else to check-in, then back (losing my park right our front as a consequence!). Also, to be clear, it is paid parking to park on-site (although street parking is no problem overnight).
No sooner had I unpacked and was ready to retire I saw 'unhygienic residue and stains' on the curtains right next to the bed (you be the judge, see photos). They were able to send keys to a new room on the second floor, meaning I now was right under the flight path and in the noisy room (there is a curfew on flights from 2300-0600) - you can't hear the planes from the ground floor units.
The lady who came with the keys (the same one from Check-in) offered no apology and no assistance. Her customer service skills really need work, particularly dealing with difficult situations (like working in contradiction to instructional signs, helping people move to their new room).
The rooms were well appointed and reasonably spacious. Saw the housekeeper in the corridor next day who was lovely, friendly and responsive (because someone had walked dog poop up every second step on their shoe).
I booked via GoSplitty, which I would not do again - best price, but least service. Sad that the staff were quite dismissive because I had booked through an alternative site...
Read moreWe stayed here for a weekend. When we arrived Friday night I was a bit worried about traffic noise as I don't think the windows are double glazed. But there's not really a lot of traffic so it didn't end up being a problem. We were on the first floor so I was glad we were not on the 2nd floor as there is no lift. But the room itself was lovely. And it even has a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom (we didn't need these for a weekend but handy if you are there longer). Great secure parking out back. Lovely spacious apartment and comfy bed. Was annoyed there was barely a half-roll of toilet paper - goodness me a roll of loo paper is 50 cents, not much for them to ensure you have spare...but a nuisance to have to go out to buy if you have booked in an apartment for a weekend away! A 2nd soap bar would have been handy too so we didn't have to keep moving it from shower to basin. THey are only small, mustn't cost much. So these are just 2 little things that aren't huge, but for minimal cost could make a more pleasant stay. But all in all, it was a lovely apartment, well located, comfy bed and we would use it again (but hope we wouldn't get a 2nd floor as the steps would drive me nuts) Oh it was also very clean. Free wifi too. Just a small long-life milk in the fridge and some tea coffee sugar & sweetener...
